Alan Boyle lists some of the latest on fusion research.
Competing fusion...
It was nice of him to link me there.
I think I actually got through my whole post without a major error. I did spot one minor one. I'm going to do an update on the math post anyway.
Hopefully I haven't wildly misinterpreted Rick's statements.
Haha, I just noticed this forum was linked too. Hello, Cosmic Blog readers!

Focus Fusion and the virial theorem
First figure out how Focus Fusion (at least Eric Lerner's version) is consistent with the virial theorem, then we'll talk.jmc wrote:He missed Focus Fusion, that's another low budget path to fusion with a reasonable amount of promise.
Re: Focus Fusion and the virial theorem
Whether Eric Lerner's version of focus fusion is consistent with the virial theorem or not does stop the plasma focus from having experimentally produced neutrons.Art Carlson wrote:First figure out how Focus Fusion (at least Eric Lerner's version) is consistent with the virial theorem, then we'll talk.jmc wrote:He missed Focus Fusion, that's another low budget path to fusion with a reasonable amount of promise.

So did ZETA. 50 years ago.jmc wrote:Whether Eric Lerner's version of focus fusion is consistent with the virial theorem or not does stop the plasma focus from having experimentally produced neutrons.
Re: Focus Fusion and the virial theorem
It’s known that the viral theorem is not stop formation of plasmoids if…
1. There is an atmospheric pressure.
2. The plasmoid has a complex topology.
3. If the Hall-effect is strong.
Elektron power systemn and Prometus plasmoids is possible due to 1.
The DPF plasmoid is possible due to 2, 3.
Plasmoids observed in space are possible because of 3.
