Pretty exciting stuff, surprised it hadn't been posted here already. In the article they mention the possibility of using this for solar power, but I have to wonder about other applications, such as optics.

They've been pushing negative permittivity for years. There seem to be a stream of new 'old-' stories coming out at the moment, from the same peddlers of ideas that have been peddling them for years. It's as if some people, once they've got an idea, have to keep pushing it indefinitely. It's fine to keep pushing your idea, but I don't see why these things need keep getting into the news as 'new' things in the hope people (presumably the funding bodies) have forgotten it's the same-old old ground.

It didn't work then, it hasn't worked now, and it may work in the future but just get on and bloomin' do something rather than just keep generating news text!!!
