Re: More Helion Energy news....

"Musk is making a mistake betting on solar and batteries." Perhaps he is betting on decentralization versus centralization of the power grid. Batteries are, for the foreseeable future, required for transitioning away from fossil fuels for vehicular transportation (maybe planes and small boats/ships)...

Re: General Fusion in the news

Having earned my submariner's pin as a midshipman and a naval aviator living under catapults, I can tell you with a high degree of certainty there is plenty of machinery/activities producing 110 db of noise. The trick is keeping the noise in the boat/ship, and that we are very good at. So, I ...

Re: General Fusion in the news

“All announcements are backing the view that fusion commercialization is upon us. This is not wishful imaginings.“ from mvanwink5 I agree! It is a very exciting time. I remember touring RPI as a senior in high school and seeing their “donut” for exploring plasma and then a demonstration of the magne...

Re: We lost so many members :(

I agree! I don’t post often but I visit on a more than weekly basis. I find this board to be the best and most concise source of fusion related news. I also find the discussions to be thought provoking and sometimes fun to argue out the different thoughts on how things will/could progress. I support...

Re: Fusion devices are not "nuclear fusion reactors"

Greenpeace has already started lobbying against fusion. Why in the world would they be against fusion? I agree there will be a sector that feels threatened by fusion power and therefore will try to use the stigma attached to the word "reactor" to undermine the speedy transition. So, it is maybe wort...

NASA: Lost its grip on reality or accepted it?

NASA has sole sourced landing astronauts on the moon with SpaceX and its still in early (and explosive) development Starship. https://www.technologyreview.com/2021/04/16/1023038/nasa-spacex-starship-lunar-lander-artemis/ or https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2021/04/16/nasa-lunar-lander-contr...

Re: SpaceX News

It has been awhile, but they just landed their 47th booster (this makes two in row at sea)! https://www.space.com/spacex-falcon-9-jcsat-18-launch-landing-success.html They are also forecasting more satellites being launched in the next decade than all the years up to now. And SpaceX will be the oper...

Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

Well, what I was referring to was the general lack of mention of Polywell in any fusion discussion. I watched a "panel" discussion on fusion with Focus Fusion, Tri Alpha, NIF and someone representing investors, but no mention of Polywell. It just seems like almost all venues about fusion don't inclu...
