Re: SpaceX News
Looks like a bird traversing the camera's field in between the lens and the launchpad. The last frame with the object doesn't appear (to me) to be behind that last tower on the far left of the screen either. As for conspiracies: using a drone or some small fast aircraft would have likely shown up on...
Re: EM Drive
I seriously doubt this is a real effect. It contradicts established theory. I still think this is great news though. The space-enthusiast / sci-fi geek kid in me is excited about the cubesat experiment. If it somehow turns out to be a useful propellentless thruster that beats the photon rocket by an...

Re: LENR Is Real
Sadly I do not see Rossi receiving a huge amount of punishment. Quite honestly the average juror has an extremely low analytical and scientific background. Let's face it may be one person in 10 actually knows the difference between hypothesis, theory, and theorem. So I could see him in a jury trial...
Re: BLP news
Well, it does make silver compounds as vapor and smoke at least, along with the arc light show.
Re: Horrible.
Ah, I think I read the Niven tale as well. What a gruesome future. I recall another irony in those stories that there were thousands of very rich 20th and 21st century people that froze their bodies in an attempt to get to some point in the future where a cure for aging could be applied, and they co...

Re: LENR Is Real
The general point remains though, there have been too many experiments and replications to doubt that anomalous heat can be generated by LENR and that P & F have been vindicated. I've heard this said by CF enthusiasts and was part of the OPs main point in opening the thread. I think would be good t...
Re: Horrible.
Maybe the practical solution is to have a black/white partner required for all cops in all departments. Expensive yes, but that way there is always a mixed race duo for each and every call. And if a black person is the person to be questioned, then the black officer is the point person to do so. And...

Re: in the lifestyle section of the bangkok post ?
I guess the geeks at Google didn't grok it enough when Bussard gave his talk there. Instead they help fund stuff like the bird-roaster Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System. Yeah, a vision guy that has the magic touch is needed. Wozniak had a Jobs for example.
Re: EM Drive
... I'd also point out that Cannae now offers to test other entity's devices for thrust. I find this most comical. If you have a groundbreaking tech that you're researching, why hold everything to run tests for other people's work? From a break-through standpoint, this seems silly. From a business ...

Re: LENR Is Real
Just skimmed it; there is a copy that can be downloaded elsewhere. I might go over it more as well when I have some time. That said, it looks comprehensive and appears to deflect much of the three issues that IH had in the MTD and specifically cites examples and related cases in that effort. I'll be...

Re: cheap, high performance, thermo electric material discoverd
Maybe such a device would push solar into a mainstream energy technology.Solar thermal/TEG, with sufficiently efficient TEGs, ought to use the entire spectrum.

Re: Will Europe wake up?
So, what will Sweden be like in another decade? They keep importing refugees, but according to The Local, " Of almost 163,000 people who applied for asylum in Sweden last year, less than 500 landed a job, according to a report by a Swedish public broadcaster. " So how will they pay for all these you...

Re: LENR Is Real
In a Motion to Dismiss, they can only address the complaint. They can not go beyond substantiating that the items in the complaint (each and every one) are either false or incorrect. So, did not the complaint state that on successful completion of the 1MW customer test that the $89 million was due?...

Re: LENR Is Real
My thought is that they did not attack the ECat or the supposed capabilities because they still fundamentally believe in it.
That is going to limit what IH does in defense. I could be wrong. Should be interesting.

Re: LENR Is Real
I'd read it carefully later. At first glance, it seems they are mainly going to defend against the missuse of IP claims, and a technicality of not having all parties sign the extended test agreement (missing one of Rossi's shell companies). And that the 1 yr test was the wrong version of the 1MW pla...
