"Ruby or Emerald" My, what a conundrum... Speaking of which, Ruby is corundum otherwise know as aluminum oxide. Emerald is a beryl mineral, (Be3Al2(SiO3)6). You can actually go get emeralds at the only public emerald mine operating in the United States (Hiddenite NC http://www.hiddenitegems.com/ ) w...

They are indeded Xeon cores. The point however was that the multipule cores are being used for specific repetitive tasks. The Xeons were used because they were off the shelf. I suppose a better example would have been Polaris or better yet Avebury http://news.cnet.com/Designer-puts-96-cores-on-singl...

You can use 35,000 cores to apply texture files to CGI images and create a movie called Avatar.I quite doubt it. What actually can you do with 144 simple cores? Are there any practical applications?

Modeling Polywell
In light of the lack of the ultimate model, the experiment, I am keenly interested in computational modeling of Polywell and the wiffleball effect. One start is the code presented in the link by D tibbets, http://www.mare.ee/indrek/ephi/images.pdf. Interesting as it is, this is a model of conceptual...

There are two main types of SSD, SLC and MLC. SLC NAND has a rating of 100,000 MTBF. MLC NAND has a rating of 10,000 MTBF. In addition, SSD is a block erase device. You can read any location randomly, but you have to erase a block before you can write to any location on that block. Reads on an SSD a...
