Re: EM Drive

According the latest news the 2 engines onboard will deliver one 0.25mN and the other 0.65mN at a power consumption of 1 watt. This explain why they need such a long time to make a "baseline of orbital data", but at the same time i am worried that such a low power output might not give the inconfuta...

Re: SpaceX News

I remember back in the early days before starship was even built and tested, the plan then was to *not* use tiles. They said back then they were going to have many small holes and pump water spray through them to cool during rentry... Never saw when they decided to go with tiles, but its probably a...

Re: EM Drive

We have several weeks of LEOP before we can start our testing. Don't expect any testing until December sometime. Collecting a baseline of orbital data before firing up the Drives will be vital to proving the Drives work. A little weird, I do not see the need to collect a "baseline of orbital data" ...

Re: Superunifaction startup

I can't believe their are people who still think he has something. Complete scam. He was smart enough to draft his actions in a way that he could never be blamed or accused for not delivering. He probably learned a lot from "experienced" artists like BLP, or from his previous experiences. I blame m...

Re: Vortex rocket engine: lighter, more efficient, more reusable

Seems to me that the corrosion ( erosion ?) rate would be proportional to the pressure which is why I think they may run at reduced pressure to get more flights without expensive between flight inspections. Remember, they want to fly like an airline, and that means many flights between inspection a...

Re: Vortex rocket engine: lighter, more efficient, more reusable

It would not surprise me if the plan was to run the Raptor 3 @~85% power (Raptor 2 level) and use the excess for fast turn around margin. Also, they can use the excess for “engine out” redundancy. It would also be available if they just HAD to launch 250tonnes at one time. The question of economics...

Re: Scam or legit?

They have been around from the early 2000 with the same claims over and over again.
They are not much different from BLP/Brilliant, lot of hype when they need more investments than nothing else.

Re: For the "Greens"

1. I must like to bang my head against the wall of the super religous types...the greens amongst others. 2. I like the idea of their Tweets having comments like mine there to remind them what mental defects they are. If you say it is petty I won't argue. I guess I just utterly despise people who ar...

Re: For the "Greens"

With that in mind would you guys post what your profession, education and experience are. I want to post this thread to Twitter to hammer home that point. I wish you good luck for the effort, but from my past experience with those type of people it will be hard to even make them understand that the...

Re: For the "Greens"

Check the attachment. The colored bar segments was from M&W and the grey was the info on buffering that I added. It gives quite a different truth, but convincing the laymen about it is a whole odyssey. I still remember in a dinner few years ago arguing for one hour with two green brain ladies that ...

Re: New: Two High School Students In Chicago Build Polywell

What ever happened with these gentlemen? According to their facebook page they completed their attempts in September 2018. On August 18th we ran our polywell for the first time! Results on electron detection were inconclusive due to a faulty Langmuir probe circuit, but we still detected a 0.18V jum...

Re: Germany investing 1 billion in fusion

Germany economy is going downhill. They choose to close Nuclear production and depend completely from cheap Russia gas, and since the moment they lost this supply they also lost any competitive edge they had. The last 12 month has seen a massive migration of companies involved in chemical manufactur...

Re: Vortex rocket engine: lighter, more efficient, more reusable

SpaceX recently ran Raptor 3 at a sustained 350 bar. Not bad! Yes, and it's an amazing engineering achievement. I doubt they will be able to improve more without some new and radical discovery in metallurgy and material composition, and so far I do not see any in the various publications. If they c...
