Re: Mach effect tuning fork experiment

That was the thought. A tuning fork experiment was tried, but I got the impression it wasn't set up well. Part of what makes this setup different is the fork and cap pack will find their own resonance as the pack moves. Any change simply from charging the capacitors should be easily filterable. The ...

Mach effect tuning fork experiment

Got back to reading Woodward's book, and read the bit about the tuning fork experiment. I had a thought on a variation i wanted an opinion on. Properly designed a length vibrating will have varying distances it moves over. Put a capacitor pack on a slide that moves up and down. A spring will pull it...

Re: To the stars...wait...

Mach effect and even EM drive I could work with, but neither are "electrogravitic" that I know of. Consciousness transfer isn't unheard of, but is a small very theoretical idea right now.

The keywords though...not the right keywords. I wonder if they even have as much money as they claim.

Re: Wave Particle Duality = Uncertainty

I had the thought of an alien race that has a model much closer to aether theory. It was mostly potato/potahto, since the basic equations couldn't really come out different, and to make them a little stranger. Sometimes something comes up that makes me wonder if I shouldn't take it more seriously. A...

I've made enough chatter to know that. Flexability relative, and Star Trek's depiction at least was not a very good one.

Re: SpaceX News

Some of the numbers given show that for the price the big deal isn't mach 25, it's bothering the neighbors.

There's sci fi dancing in the back of my head about a surprise immigration using such concepts, but no good storylines have come out of it yet.

One of these tunnels needs to suddenly wind up being a Verne gun. Preferably nuclear powered.

Sadly most people won't be convinced until you land a 747 in their front yard. Also sadly, that would be rather expensive.

Re: SpaceX News

Because very few payloads need FH. It requires another manufacturing line and takes away development time and money from ITS. ITS, at least as it was presented a year ago, would be cheaper to operate and more reusable, while offering a lot more payload. Musk wants ITS anyway for his mars program, w...

Re: NTR fuel

I'm still waiting for the real Shawyer replication- - if he got his idea from how he had to adjust communication satellite orbits, a more comprehensive audit of a larger dataset will show a similar trend, and will show deviation from photon rocket thrust levels. Monoatomic hydrogen I believe would e...

Re: NTR fuel

Would a hydride be dense enough to provide as much hydrogen as a liquid fuel? It could certainly make an interesting hybrid rocket. I'm wondering how much monoatomic would increase isps, wpul it be enough to be worth it?

NTR fuel

Been reading Heinlein's Rolling Stones to the boy. In it they mention "stabilize monoatomic hydrogen" as the ideal fuel for the ship's rocket. Is such a thing possible? I'd assume it wouldn't be stable long term, but if you could get a few hours out of it, it'd be practical for chemical rockets too ...

Re: SpaceX News

TRW used to let me in to one of their satellite assembly areas, but only after it was cleaned up so you had no idea what they did there. My job was to test their overhead lift to be sure they were not going to drop whatever it was they built. Orbital was more fun. They'd bring rocket parts over for...

Not quite the chip fab I'm still looking for, but getting rid of chemicals and complex processes heps make it easier to set up a smaller, maker style fab.
