Hasn't anyone seen the giant elephant in the room yet? I think it very likely that the Obama Administration will severely curtail defense spending. This happened under Clinton after the end of the 1st Gulf War, and now Obama is in a similar position. Yes- He is a proponent of alternative energy, but...

These are all called "Presolicitations". If it works like all the other awards...next will come the "Solicitation", then the "Award". The most interesting thing are the dates. The time frames for other possible parties to submit are really short...not like typical solicitation to multiple parties wh...

Are we talking Nuclear….or Polywell? I know this point has been mentioned repeatedly, but there is a big difference between the perceptions of nuclear fission and nuclear fusion. I think both candidates as well as the majority of the American people understand this difference even in simple terms, w...

Perception is everything. If it looks like the world economy is taking a header….then oil will likely follow- To heck with Supply & Demand in the short term. If turmoil reigns for a few more weeks....we'll see oil below $60/bbl

Maybe in France or Japan if all went perfectly and it was of the correct design. In the US? Hard to believe. IMHO 3 years is extremely optimistic and 5-7 years much more likely...therein lies the problem and the delays are typically why they end up costing so darn much. I hope I'm wrong though! At l...

Skipjack, I can only speak to what I’m knowledgeable about, but near where I live, there is a wind station that can generate just over 90MW, with about 60+ turbines (1.3MW up to 2.3MW peak output depending on turbine). Total land use may spread over a few thousand acres, but much of this is unusable...

Re: News thread political tangent

The argument that biofuel production produces more harm to the enviroment is still unproven. Is there science confirming it? Sure. Is there science disproving it? Sure. As you’ve seen energy costs go up along with food…you have also seen Politicians looking for a scape goat. Corn production and etha...

classicpenny, I'm not arguing the government subsidy. I'm not an advocate for Biofuel production either....only a farmer that sees a different perspective on why food costs are the way they are. I would argue again that the Political and Enviromental aspects of farming for Biofuel would be much diff...

Re: News thread political tangent

d) biofuel: actually causes MORE harm to the environment than drilling for oil, a LOT more. increases soil erosion, nitrate pollution in rivers, deforestation, increases food prices resulting in rising poverty rates globally. I hate to pop this balloon, but the negative comments on biofuels make li...

MSimon- All this and more. During the 70's in Washington State, what is now Energy Northwest began construction on 5 reactors, 3 in Eastern Wa., and 2 in Western Wa. Out of the 5, only one was completed and is still operating near Richland, WA...a 1.19 GW reactor called the Columbia Generating Stati...

Sigh. Obviously you don't own a business. Business owners pay personal income taxes on our business income. Thank you...someone finally understands. Clinton had a 39% top tax rate, Obama wants to put it back to 39%. Obama has 3 different tax breaks for small business. McCAin wants to extend 10 billion in tax breaks to corporations. Obama wants to do what Clinton did, which did work. Roger, Are you just a Politician or do you work for a living? ...

It was in a huge convention hall, packed with Vendors from all over the U.S. We were there to meet with Customers and Vendors in our industry. My Co-worker introduced me to ...
