What I cannot understand is how he can keep the details of the nano-powder secret through the patent application process. He can't. Not if the patent examiner is doing his or her job. If he burned 10 grams of Palladium to get his 15KW, he does not have very much of a business plan. I have not heard...

That probably depends on the doubter. Continued, better demonstrations of the device, independent replication of the device (not likely any time soon given Rossi's current attitude), and commercial production and distribution of a working device will go a long way toward convincing the doubters (whi...

Is there any difference between electrostatic inertial confinement and inertial electrostatic confinement? If we can trust the reporter in the following news segment (heh), the former is a type of cold fusion: http://www.kgw.com/news/neighborhood-news/beaverton/Obama-learns-from-3-Beaverton-students...

Re: Power generation...

Yep=- all these fusion space craft proposals are putting the cart before the horse in a very big way. .... Eyes on the prize-- and the prize here is the development of confirmed, beyond break even fusion-- once you have that, everything else will follow. Until you have that, everything else is a wa...

I don't believe EMC2 has said whether they'll release any of their results to the public.

Perhaps you're thinking of Famulus, who has built his own Polywell device, based on one built at the University of Sydney, and should be testing it soon. He intends to release his results once he has them.

I'd say he had a rather atypical career for a fusion scientist. Perhaps the key is to avoid becoming dependent on the vicissitudes of DOE funding.

I have a hard time believing those who enter into the fusion field aren't at least as disappointed as the rest of us when they reach the end of their careers and net power from fusion is still beyond the horizon. Sometimes I'm glad I'm not in that field. Other times I wish I was right in the middle ...

That's a fair criticism. I would emend the text to read "promising enough" and perhaps add an "eventually" before "go on", but it's largely out of my hands at this point.

The final report (to the Navy) on the WB-8 project is due at the end of April according to the latest publicly available information. If that information changes, it changes. That it has already changed is still speculation as far as I know. There is also a status update (to the public) due to be po...

Doesn't add much? It's essentially the Oct-Dec 2010 quarterly update with some background information for those who aren't already familiar with EMC2 and the Polywell. For those who are already on Talk Polywell, I should say it doesn't add anything. Still, I'm amused to see it here. :)

Long, but hopefully eventful. I'm hoping each is successful and finds its niche.

The article published in the Journal of Fusion Energy is behind a paywall, but it can also be downloaded here.

Interview by New Energy Times of Ing. Rossi http://newenergytimes.com/v2/news/2011/36/3626-energycatalyzer.shtml Yes, I have a very precise idea, and I think I understand perfectly the mechanism, but to explain it, though, it would be necessary first that the patent gets approved. It's clear, thoug...

Divide zero by 60 years, and that is the rate of progress. Zero net joules is not the same as no progress. Regarding the original post, the United States government participated in an attempt to put the railroad companies out of business back in 1903. It was a spectacular failure at first. (And let...

First plasma! That's good to hear. :D

I had assumed they were going to have a full year of testing, and were just being coy with us regarding the reporting. I hope six months is enough for them to find what they're looking for.
