Since, the plasma is fairly close to electrically neutral throughout, your going to have electrons close to the ions... Unless, the plasma is "banded" where you alternate layers of electrons and ions like a lasagna. Course I have no idea what I'm talking about. Is it possible to setup standing waves...

I second that....

I've got a couple of questions now...

1) Is it that Brem isn't that tricky to deal with?
2) Is DD or DT a slam dunk then?

:D :D :D :D

Got it.... So, P-B11 is off the table, and D-T isn't even certain... Well, should DD be a possibility, would helium 3 be a possibility. I was hoping that we would be able to skip mining the moon for He3. On the other hand, would it be possible to set up breeder reactors to generate He3 for mob...

Is that 1-2 years to know if this will work, mean P-B11 or does it mean any polywell?

Should I take this to mean.

1) D-T and D-D will absolutely positively work.
2) P-B11 we will know within 1-2 years...

Or does the uncertainty include D-D and/or D-T?

I've haven't been watching this forum for about 2 months, but from what I seem to remember,

1) DT with Bussard no problem.
2) DD with Bussard fairly safe, but a lot of engineering.
3) PB11 may not be possible.

Is that still the way people read things? Or is it looking better for PB11 at this point?

Just saw this for the first time... There is an added benefit to going direct from solar to Methane.

It's a lot easier to store Methane for future usage than electricity.

Hey I just had a chicken omelette for breakfast.... Any case the real solution to the Nuclear waste involves re-processing. The nastiest long half life stuff is Pu239. So, give it a couple of months for the short half life to go away on it's own. (It's called on site storage). Then take what's left ...

Not twice the speed. Sure the charge to mass ratio is double so the energy per mass is double, but doubling the energy does not double the speed. Increases it by about 1.41. I'd have to think about it to figure out what happens to the protons, but I doubt they would end up doubling their energy in e...

The process is also known as reading the tea leaves. Trying to piece together patterns and information from different sources. Sometimes you can get a lot of information that way... Or sometimes you can fan the rumor mill with unverified information. I'm sure when the cone of silence is finally lift...

That is a fabulous way of explaining it... Their is no Boran 11 or at least very little in the sun. Stars burn it very quickly. The biggest roadblock to fusion in stars is the reaction p + p -> H2 + e- That reaction is limited by the low strength of the weak force and sets a limit to how fast a star...

When the B10 absorbs a neutron, does it become B11?

Although it sounds like very few neutrons will be generated compared to the amount of B11 consumed.

Of course that assumes concrete. If the neutrons get thermalized with a water jacket of 6" or 8" and then absorbed with elemental boron or a borax sludge it could be thinner. The NRC will still want to keep an eye on you. Would that elemental boron or borax sludge by Boron 10 or 11? What does Boron...

I would second that to thank all or the overwhelming majority of the people posting to this site for providing the information and discourse that has occurred here. pfrit, I think at this point that we can all assume that the news is good. But as they say "The Devil is in the Details", and it takes ...
