What manner of intrigue was introducing humans to the Mandelbrot Set centuries before computers (assuming that the posted image is that old)?

Could be, I don't know. Just posting it as a possible option.

I didn't say I intentionally breathed burning circuit board fumes... I was just oblivious to the danger, mesmerized by the easy pickin's of top-notch TTL and CMOS DIPs (some of them were even Mil-Spec ceramic packages).

A plasma tube to bring particles up to speed at SLAC http://phys.org/news/2016-06-plasma-tube-particles-slac.html In plasma wakefield acceleration, energetic bundles of electrons or positrons traverse a plasma and generate plasma "wakes" for trailing bunches of particles to ride. Since the method c...

Re: Hot lead fixed my computer. Fixed it real good.
Sounds like a good idea, but I would only do that now with an externally vented "shop" (non-food) oven. Back when I had the time and money for my electronics hobby, I used to salvage lots of good parts from circuit boards using a torch, but without forced ventilation. I stupidly breathed a lot of ve...

Hot lead fixed my computer. Fixed it real good.
No, it's not what you think. My 7 year old notebook suddenly froze upon power-up, totally black screen (verified with flashlight reflection substituted for backlight), no Power-On Self-Test (POST) or boot, minor noises indicating CD/DVD access attempt, fan running, but nothing further, no BIOS error...

1991 VG: Natural or Artificial? http://www.centauri-dreams.org/?p=80 Discovered by Jim Scotti using the University of Arizona’s Spacewatch telescope (normally used to detect small asteroids near the Earth), 1991 VG seemed to be about 10 meters in size, but did not appear to be an asteroid. I sincerely hope that EMC2, Tri-Alpha, Sorlox, Helion/MSNW, General Fusion and other left-coast fusion labs continually archive their latest results in a safe area, in preparation for slippages of the Cascadia Subduction Zone and San Andreas Fault. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/hazards/products/conterm...
