Re: Z-Pinch Renaissance
I think the most interesting fusion engine concept so far is the one based on the Sheared Flow Stabilized Z- Pinch. That thing has an Isp of ~370,000 seconds and a respectable thrust of 330 KN in a tiny package (by fusion reactor standards anyway). You would likely have to inject some extra propell...

Re: Z-Pinch Renaissance
That's great, but with the requirement of a 2.5 GW power source, I doubt we'll see it any time soon. Not before SpaceX repeatedly lands on Mars, more likely than not. Okay...but then sailing ships beat steamships to the new world and covered wagons beat railroads to the American west. In this case ...

Re: Extraterrestrial colony companies
In fact, a recent NASA report said a team of scientists directly observed “definitive evidence of water ice” on the lunar surface of the polar regions. The space agency said the deposits are “patchily distributed”— most of the ice at the southern pole is concentrated in craters while ice at the nor...

Re: Mach Effect progress
Total respect for McCulloch intellectual honesty and for Tajmar, that once again proves to be a great experimental investigator. Yes. Agreed; this is also instructive: The DARPA NLM project is currently funded until May 2021. Mike McCulloch is the current DARPA EmDrive project leader. Mike presente...

DARPA Laser Version of EMDrive Has a Test Result Better Than Commercial Ion Drive Brian Wang | September 21, 2020 https://www.nextbigfuture.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Screen-Shot-2020-09-21-at-12.53.23-PM-730x430.jpg If we could have a space drive that did not use fuel then we could accelerate ...

I'm almost fully recovered from my 26 May 2019 heart attack. I still believe Polywell needs funding. I have no idea how to make it happen. Glad your back as well MSimon; wondered what happened to you. Sorry about your medical issue glad you are on the mend. Hope you dodged the Corona virus and that...

Re: Signs of life on Venus
Even if it's a microbial life form, it has to eat something in order to survive. What would that be? Don't know about how much water vapor and other components necessary for life as we know it are in Venus's upper atmospheric regions. However there are areas in said upper atmosphere of Venus where ...

Re: Mach Effect progress
I will wait with curiosity the results of his tests because while I do not know enough of McCulloch as a person to judge him, for sure Roger Shawyer and his EmDrive lost any credibility to me long time ago.... Shawyer as a theorist yes; though he may or may night be a competent experimentalist. But...

The EmDrive Just Won't Die More than 20 years after its introduction, the EmDrive is still being tested in labs around the world, including DARRA. But the controversial thruster's do-or-die moment is quickly approaching. By David Hambling Sep 11, 2020 https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod.s3.amazona...

This document was written in 2017 so it is pretty old. From my posted link: Accepted by Air University Press April 2017 and published May 2019 [/i] Yes looks like your right; only the published date is relatively new. It did make a reference elsewhere in the document about DARPA being "still on the...

Re: Mach Effect progress
If i remember correctly DARPA's results was also negative/inconclusive, but I might be confusing them with some other lab. EMdrive has been tested from half a dozen labs so far in Europe China and USA and all of them didn't find the claimed effect or pinpointed any anomaly to a known physical proce...

Anybody heard anything about results of DARPA's supposed EmDrive test mentioned in Popular Mechanics back in Nov '18 ? DARPA test on the EmDrive started late last year . http://www.talk-polywell.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2949&p=132519&hilit=darpa#p132519 Wonder what sort of results they got?
