Re: They are starting with Q < 1 devices

The ISS (Space station) uses 8 tons of fuel per year to maintain orbit. 8000 lbs. It costs $2000-20,000 per pound. $16 million to $160 million to launch fuel. Same kind of situation for communication and other satellites. An early version of this that is better than an ion thruster could reduce fue...

Anyway, not the topic of the thread. Though I have been inspired to start looking into OpenCL for my ATI-based graphics card. Me, too! I have a radeon 57xx, and I'd love to see the sim running. Unfortunately, because the gpu code is cuda, it's nvidia specific. To run it you have to use either the c...

I saw this in the readme.txt while I was doing moving files around and couldn't resist passing it on. My tired eyes mistakenly saw Johan F. Prins and I almost ran for the hills lest I be compared unfavorably with a snake's anus for excessive curiosity. This sample code originally accompanied the GPU...

Thanks for the explanations. They'll prove useful when I get to do some actual coding (hopefully soon)! I intend to rebuild my environment tonight, and will describe what changes I've made in a readme just so it's clear (to others and myself). Once complete and working, I am going to try to make it ...

aye. when it's running, first press "c" to stop it from cycling through pre-defined parameters, then you'll have to adjust the sliders to get them into a reasonable range so taht the particles don't just all fly out. also make sure to set the particle filters, particularly z-bottom and z-width so t...

well yes, but my code is open source and publicly available via svn here . i'd love to have more eyes on it (and hands!) and i'm happy to answer any questions. I haven't said anything because I haven't done anything useful with it yet, but I am examining it. I plan to take the cuda code and convert...

And, how does a hot multi core desktop computer with a good graphics accelerator compare with the super computer circa ~1993? I understand even 64 bit processing would strain to achieve meaningful results. No need to guess. Top500 has their list from 1993, which tops out at 124 gflops. http://www.t...

More like fascist or neo corporatism

Sounds more like fascist or neo-corporatism than communism.

Elsewhere

You can find it elsewhere with some searching, but they really make you work for it. I couldn't find the first part, unfortunately.
