They're still stating the same goals, namely "2024 is when we first demonstrate this in the field, 2026 is when we first extract steam from the ground".

Re: EM Drive

Most interesting was the short list of false-positive causes they had tried and failed to eliminate. An orbital test is probably the best thing they could do (since they seemingly can afford it; thanks to SpaceX rideshare for lowering the cost). Let's face it, no amount of ground testing would suff...

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024

Helion is (unsurprisingly) pleased with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's recent decision to regulate fusion energy systems based on existing nuclear materials licensing.

But the startup’s expertise is not lost: three of its four co-founders have taken roles at former rival Zap Energy.
It's almost like a merger.

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024

My fear is that the moment anyone has a fusion energy production prototype, we are going to see a much harder scrutiny, and murderous attacks. I do agree that so called "environmentalists" will rally against anything that does not justify them raising Malthus from the grave. This worries me as well...

Re: EM Drive

So, "pure electricity". No gaseous, liquid or solid fuels. What could they be doing, capturing electrons from the solar wind and expelling those at high velocities? Except that those already travel at 250–750 km/s, and electrons have so little mass. From their website: IVO Ltd., the pioneer of capac...

For sake of closure, rumor has it that their CFR project was shut down pre-COVID. I don't have any sources to cite, but this might be as much as we ever hear.

In case anyone has the time and energy to post a rebuttal there. The top level (pinned) comment smears David Kirtley's honesty.
