Re: ZAP Energy News
In the slide ‘Performance scaling of SFS fusion’ in Ben Leavitt’s talk, Fuze-Q was underperforming Fuze at the same current. I don’t know if that has any bearing on my earlier comment, but quite interesting.

Re: ZAP Energy News
Do I read right 10^9 neutrons per pulse?
Seems very low, even with I^11 scaling and DD?

LPP have launched a funding round on Wefunder, at www.wefunder.com/lppfusion. There you can navigate to this pdf, accounts for the latest financial year to 30-sep-22 https://d2qbf73089ujv4.cloudfront.net/uploads/form_c/129891/remote_files/585181-RnU3fDqr1YAoopgGbHWBmHft/LAWRENCEVILLE_PLASMA_PHYSICS_...

Re: EM Drive
Sorry, that wasn't completely random: I'd be more suspicious of fraudulent hype if they are trying to raise money at the moment. I looked on EDGAR, but failed to find anything. Probably not a public company yet. FWIW the video promo did its job, which I take it is selling their story. Most interesti...
Re: EM Drive
Does anyone know whether they are raising money or executing any other transactions prior to the orbital test?

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
Apropos fuel mix: DT is highly reactive at relatively low temperature; D3He needs higher temperature to become highly reactive. Might it work to use a small quantity of T as a 'fuse' to raise plasma temperature into the D3He regime? That is, start with some fuel mix D-T-He3 and expect an overall hig...

So the radiation at the machine surface is about 1% of background after 34 weeks, if I’m right tgat background is 300 mRem/yr, and can do arithmetic.
Except it will be less, because the vessel walls will be effective shields against environmental alpha and beta radiation…???

Re: EM Drive
Quite. They will either crash and burn, or change the world: 45mN/Watt is huge.
Re: EM Drive
Someone claims to have validated a 'zero fuel' thruster at 45mN/Watt in vacuum conditions, and are launching it on SpaceX: https://ivolimited.us/press-release-ivo-ltd-to-launch-quantum-drive-pure-electric-satellite-thruster-into-orbit-on-spacex-transporter-8-with-partner-rogue-space-systems/ https:/...

Re: Lawaranceville E-Newsletter
Hand to mouth hardly describes it. A founder, a scientist and an IT person. One volunteer couhd be a big boost, though i don’t speak for the company. For the only company (I can think of) studying fusion in an imploding plasma, the lack of public funding shows a shocking unwillingness to spread risk...

Re: TAE completes first tests of hydrogen-boron fuel cycle
FWIW isn’t their power plant design enormous? Like O(~100m)? 1 Mw/m^3 might be Ok. Though in any case I don’t see that having much to do with the paper’s modelling assumptions.
