I keep forgetting this is the Polywell Forum. Perhaps you can get your question answered better at the “Energy from Thorium Forum”.

Re: Follow up question to "For the Greens"
As for our waste fuel rods do you see any paracical use whatsoever in a MSR of any type? As I said, all the available Pu, including that in SNF, should be used to start up fast breeders for U233 production. In this case I mean something like the molten chloride salt fast breeder proposed by Elysium...

Re: Follow up question to "For the Greens"
“Spent Nuclear Fuel” It is the legal term for the fuel rods that have too much fission products to retain reactivity. There is still ~97% UNSPENT fuel in them, but the legislation the was supposed to “solve” the waste problem just made it 100 times worse. It is illegal for the power plants that gene...

Re: Follow up question to "For the Greens"
IMHO, the goal of “burning up the waste fuel” is bound to be counter-productive. Assuming you think that fast reactors are the way to do it, the very small number of fast reactors that can be made, and the very slow core doubling time means we will still be working on SNF for many 1000s of years. It...

Re: SpaceX News
I am unclear as to launch timing as I have seen conflicting time data. Notices stated windows open at 1300Z, however others are saying midnight local. The math doesn't match currently. Perhaps the difference between when they will be working and when they might be actually launching . Need several ...
Re: EM Drive
There will still be points of issue even if there are no other thrusters. After all, there are flowing electrons in a magnetic field. EMF anyone?

Re: SpaceX News
As of today, paperwork and notices lining up for launch as soon as 13th (Monday). Realistically, could be anytime next week. Still waiting on Fish & Wildlife. IIRC, USFW has until mid March to decide. Having had dealings with them before, I would be surprised for any day short of their allotment. M...

Re: Vortex rocket engine: lighter, more efficient, more reusable
… My concern is mainly on the corrosion limitation of the Oxygen rich side of the engine flow (especially the turbopump). Solving that is the key to reliability in my opinion, much more than the extra stress on the alloy due to the increased pressure. Seems to me that the corrosion (erosion?) rate ...

Re: Vortex rocket engine: lighter, more efficient, more reusable
If they can keep it stable and reliable it could become the workhorse engine for the next decade or more with its 2.7 MN of thrust. It would not surprise me if the plan was to run the Raptor 3 @~85% power (Raptor 2 level) and use the excess for fast turn around margin. Also, they can use the excess...

Re: Scam or legit?
My jury is still out. This may be real. It may never be practical. And the answers may be like other fusion options, 50 years away and always will be
But who cares? Nuclear fission is real, practical, and NOW.

Re: For the "Greens"
With that in mind would you guys post what your profession, education and experience are. I want to post this thread to Twitter to hammer home that point. See my bio Mr “usesbiggerwords”, That you do. Where I said “in” my bio, you said “see” my bio. That word was 50% bigger than mine!!! Way to go! ...
