The world record for a continuous concrete pour is 16000 m^3 over 2 days: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concrete#World_records That's the volume of a concrete cylinder 5 meters high and 64 meters in diameter (Enough load distribution? Who knows.). Now, if that can be poured a mile underwater... Leav...

Actually N. Korea is still very far away from producing a nuclear bomb, they did some enrichment, but their last nuclear tests was not even near the power of a nuclear bomb, but more near to a "dirty" bomb. Than, like you said, bragging about something will push them or someone else to prove or dis...

I have to agree with Chris on this one. It is not clear that the issue discussed is purely probability of a reaction verses actual machine construct and physics play. Reaction rate is one thing, Reaction alone is another. If you are talking just Probability of a Reaction, density is out. If you are ...

I had a great response drafted talking about the gunshy propesnity of current navy and military project funders. Unfortunately my laptop cycled on auto-reboot for an update right when I was hitting submit. Bad words ensued. Cliff notes version... If you have read the FY11 Budget reports so far from ...

should've put the below here...vice the other thread... "Another of my FOIA paths ran itself to ground. Denied on Proprietary (again). I am now on the appeal path only. As previously stated, the plus side is that the appeal process gets handled by big navy in DC. And I get to cite previous releases,...

But you would have a hard time keeping the genie in the bottle in regards to using Polywell as a breeder. DD / DT setup would garauntee it, PB&J would just mean they would have to add shielding, then fuel it with DD.

I think we got an inadvertant (on purpose?) bone tossed to us with the graphic. All in all, they should have delivery of the core by now, and even have it set up. I wonder if they have powered it up yet? We shall see about July 15, with the next recovery.gov posting. Unless it remains with the ambig...

The WB-8 Graphic seems to convey a modular coil design with individual wall supports along the lines of Joel's (Rick Nebel aware of) paper. If you look at each face of the containment it seems to clearly portray a standardized system of penetrations and mountings. The larger face plate having centra...

Re: Another (simple) FAQ

Here is a fairly simple question. Any takers? What ion energy is best for deuterium fusion, tritium deuterium fusion, or proton boron 11 fusion? From Page 16 of Joel Rogers paper: "The b=1 condition fixes the product of ion energy(Ei) x ion density(n). Fusion rate is proportional to n2 which falls ...

Some of this discussion thread is addressed by Joel in his paper.

In particular he addresses peak resonance around page 16.
