there are numerous mechanisms available to block release Huh? If you could block FOIAs for no particular reason they would be useless. Those are the exemptions. If you can't claim any of those it has to be released. If the funders didn't want data released this appears to be the only way that could...

Kiteman is correct. Proprietary is protected. The argument lays in what info was claimed as proprietary at the time of the FOIA filing. This also has been argued both ways in court. It would surprise me greatly if EMC2 would go to court over this. I am not sure if it would be them against the govern...

It has been obvious from the start that EMC2 picked the only exemption available to claim. The reason for EMC2 choosing to claim exemption remains a point of debate. However, you are still missing that outside of FOIA exemptions, there are numerous mechanisms available to block release, or significa...

Cherrypick said: Germans actually thought that nuclear explosions are not doable in practice and did not use billions to fund the research. That is because they were actively deceived by their own scientists. Talldave: ladajo wrote: "Missive" holds several contexts. I will not bore you with cut and...

For the record, I do not think Rick was "lying". I do think there are inconsistancies that came to light via the filing of the FOIA. I(he) am willing to explore other avenues and move away from the FOIA. The intent of the FOIA was to give EMC2 an out based on the understanding that the navy was prev...

"Missive" holds several contexts. I will not bore you with cut and pastes. Maybe NAVAIR FOIA coordinators do not know what the funding approval authority thinks, however, they sure seemed ready to release the reports regardless. One would think that they talked to the contracting POC's and approvers...

Yes, the russians had a VERY bad design, and go figure, it went bad. And I agree, TMI-2 was a success from inside the american industry, but an incredible failure from the eyes of the general (un-educated) public and media. Although, for the industry side we did learn a valuable lesson: "Believe you...

I beg to differ on the reference to Cherynobol and TMI-2. This is a clear example of the effectiveness of safety in Nuclear Power. The russians had a very unsafe design and paid for it dearly. TMI-2 clearly represented that proper safety design prevents catastrophic accidents. The core completely sl...

I would think that the size of the plasma spikey ball is dependant on not only the size of the coils but the field applied. And that relationship changes as relative surface areas and distances change. Not linear. I do not think that we can look at it as simple as 10X bigger coil = 10X bigger Plasma...

Nobody ever said he said he would "release all". Then what's your complaint? He refused your FOIA. So what? He's shared some information, just as he said he would. The funders have asked him to keep quiet on the rest. I do not have any issue with EMC2 claiming proprietary. Their call. You assume th...
