By the mid-1980s, the environmental movement had abandoned science and logic in favor of emotion and sensationalism, The timing on this fits with my own personal experiences. I started college in 1981, and was a bit of a "green" at the time (I climbed mountains and did other outdoor sports, so appr...

Podkletnov...

This is Podkletnov. Podkletnov is the guy who claimed to have demonstrated anti-gravity effects with rotating superconductors in the mid 90's. I know a technical journalist with an interest in "new" energy who went to Finland to interview Podkletnov around 2002 or so. He came back and said it still ...

I would like to see the Chinese try to develop the drive based on Heim Theory.

I read about this EMdrive when it first came out a couple of years ago. I think its a total crock. However, the Chinese are more than welcome to try it out if they think it might be real.

When will the review process be completed? If it is no-go for additional funding, will the experimental results be made publicly available so that others can pursue it?

I have been following the cold fusion stuff sporadically since around 1995. Personally, I think its bunk. There have been a large number of self-financed people involved in this, including Blacklight Power (even though they do not like to be associated with "cold fusion"). To date, no one has been a...

It's conceptually easy. Actually coding a high level of self-awareness would require a large amount of programming effort, processing power, and input devices with high throughput. Computers do already monitor and modify their own code to some extent. Anti-virus programs could be said to be a primi...

the ideas for testing seem endless.
Once again, all paths lead to the LHC. We can all just sit back and watch for the next few years.

Re: Injection Molded Ceramics

I wonder if there would be any outgassing from the polymer component if the ceramic part made by this process is used in a high vacuum application.

Also don't know if the high-Tesla fields are still required for the putative FTL application. All work since Tajmar's initial reports two years ago have indicated vastly reduced technical requirements for the STL "normal" propulsive experiment. I find EHT/LQG more attractive as a massively elegant ...

One of Ray K's points of emphasis is the combination of machine and biological intelligence/technology. We are arguing over whether the future will be "wet" or "dry." The reality is probably "damp." Kurt9, you mentioned you work in the semiconductor field. Ray K mentions 3D architecture to chips, n...

I'm not sure how to approach this as It sounds like a few people are believers of "Heim Theory" but the original theory hasn't even been peer reviewed! I'm not even sure mainstream scientists are looking at it seriously. String theory, even though, at the moment isn't tested, has quite a bit of sol...

Kurzweil, on the other hand, believes in the possibility of "dry" nanotech, which is "machine phase chemistry carried out in vacuum environment. Work in this direction has been carried out for a number of years, though it's still in an early stage AFAIK. Mechanosynthesis has been performed by pushi...
