Would not the more appropriate place for announcements about Blacklight Power, focus fusion, and the like be in the "general" section? This is the polywell board and news should be limited to the polywell concept. Or a new section could be created, called "other possibilities".

I attended a particle beam conference in Tennessee in fall of '97. This was while I was working for a Japanese company where we were trying to develop PSII (plasma source ion immersion) process thin-film deposition. It turned out that most of the attendees there were ex-fusion people. I asked severa...

I'll believe the Blacklight Power process once I see an commercial generator. I wish them well, but I am very skeptical about them.

If this works ITER will need to be redesigned. It is rather obvious that the boys behind ITER jumped the gun. Screw the ITER. Perhaps the Japanese or Chinese (or the Koreans who are not part of the ITER consortium) may choose to develop this technology as separate effort. Also, the U.S. reduced its...

Since the Physorg forum is dead (other than in its Lofi version which is very hard to read) it would be nice to have a www.talk-heim.org The thing that made the PhsyOrg thread superior was the participation of a few really senior and knowledgeable physicists who were proponents of honest research a...

Big Oops - The picture in the first article linked in this thread shows the investigator at the Jupiter Laser Facility setting up targets. https://lasers.llnl.gov/programs/science_at_the_extremes/jlf.php That laser ain't gonna fit on a truck! This is what I thought, which means that this is not rea...

The article is not very specific on costs. But from what little I know of anti-matter, it's cost lots to get just a few particles. This experiment has produced billions of them. I can extrapolate then that it's some orders of magnitude less expensive than previous methods, in a "per particle" calcu...

I hate to bring a thread back from the dead, but I also dislike starting new ones. The iGEM 2008 competition has ended recently, and the winners had a pretty cool project. They basically created a functional designer vaccine against a fairly prolific bacteria, and they did it in a year. No idea how...

I contacted the Hyperion guys earlier this year to see if I can sell for them in East Asia. They told me that they expected to have a prototype available around 2012-2013. I think Hyperion may be "vaporware".

Well, that video (if true) would explain McCain not slaming Obama on bankrupting Coal. (and the fact that Obama's comments weren't discovered until very recently leaving insufficient time to get the word out) It is also an example why conservatives were never thrilled with McCain. He did a lot of t...

No he won't...

Obama won big in the Northern Mid-west states (OH, IN, PA, IL) that voted for Bush in 2000 and '04, where manufacturing makes up the economic base. These economies are reliant on coal-generated electricity. Despite his rhetoric, it is unlikely that Obama is going to do anything to piss off voters in...

I think SENS is definitely the way to go. SENS is the same thing to conventional medicine as the IEC polywell is to conventional fusion approaches. It is also criticized for the same reason. The conventional biomedical research community has failed to understand and deal with the aging process just ...
