Re: SpaceX News

The last rocket that landed slid almost to the edge of the barge before they were able to get aboard and secure the landing pads. It takes almost an hour to get the crew onboard the barge after landing. Any ideas for cheap, lightweight and automatic way to secure? Perhaps robotic system on the barg...

Re: SpaceX News

Probably the latter. IIrc, some ion designs are estimated 1-2 months trip time.

Re: LENR Is Real

On another note, it is hilarious to me how quiet Rossiclown's sockpuppet / meatpuppet blog got after the court ordered him to reveal all his sockpuppets. It will be fun if we get to see how clean he came with compliance to the order. :) Did the court order that? I can see that being a real problem!...

Re: How to terraform Venus and provide fast transportation through out the solar system with this one weird trick

Venus is too hard.

Floating cloud cities seem the most viable option. Still hard though with poisonous atmosphere.

Titan is much friendlier.

Re: Polywell article from Iran..

Anyone ever use this COMSOL Multiphysics product that these researchers did for Polywell? The article appears to use Polywell mostly as a nice case-study for showing off COMSOL capabilities.

I remember reading with interest some similar simulation work here. (happyjack's custom software package)

Re: LENR Is Real

Further posting from Dewey Weaver indicates the 1MW in NC was stripped of cells by Rossi to build the Doral unit. It is now an in effect shell. Where is this guy posting -- I'd like to read his comments. BTW, was not the original 1MW plant composed of 100x10KW units? I thought the later version had...

Re: LENR Is Real

LENR or the all the Rossi obfuscated scam-electric-heater-what-ever-thing(s)? One problem with LENR is that there are a lot of theories, but not anything solid. However, there was a nice overview of Widom-Larsen Theory on the net I remember reading. I just tried to find that link again, but could no...

Re: LENR Is Real

Well, the best evidence on fraud has to do with the recent emails submitted to the court showing Rossi put together JM Products as a completely fake company set up by Rossi and controlled by him. This supports the necessity of sending the heat output through a wall to hide that fact. If there was a ...

Re: LENR Is Real

To be a bit pedantic, even having access to $150 million of funds to invest doesn't mean that you "can pay" almost 60% of that on a tech that just doesn't seem to work without the direct hand of the inventor controlling/operating/regulating the device. Couldn't pay sounds about right, even f...

Re: Bill Gates is heading a $1 billion venture fund to combat climate change

Scott Adam's blog today: http://blog.dilbert.com/post/155073242136/the-climate-science-challenge excerpt: This question is a subset of the more interesting question of how non-scientists can judge the credibility of scientists or their critics. My best guess is that professional scientists will say ...

Re: Bill Gates is heading a $1 billion venture fund to combat climate change

There is still environmental impact for wind and solar of course. The bird cooking Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System comes to mind. And wind turbines are notorious for doing similar damage. I'd hate to see how bad that will get on a much larger scale. If the dream of cheap nuclear power (fusi...

Re: LENR Is Real

Merry Christmas all :)

I'm still holding firm on my original bet that IH settles. They want to keep the IP IMO.
That said, it looks a lot less likely than I thought a few months ago!

I do like Rossi's quote tho.

Re: Bill Gates is heading a $1 billion venture fund to combat climate change

While the Mars data is interesting, and factors in to our understanding, how is Mars a good control? Or Venus? The conditions and weather variables on those planets are considerably different. For example, completely different atmospheric composition and pressure without the kind of water we have on...
