I am impressed if this is true: Nuclear expert says radioactive core in one of Japan's quake-ravaged reactors appears to have melted through the bottom of its containment vessel and cannot be saved, as displaced residents continue to be tested for radiation exposure. They think Unit 2 cooked throug...

The differential decay ratios mentioned above are interesting, though I'm not sure how many scenarios could result in the ratios. Dan Tibbets The Ba-140/LA-140/Ce-140 decay chain make those numbers interesting, the TC99m is scary. With a 1/2 life of 6.02 hrs its basically not measurable after 62 hr...

I've been looking at the list of isotopes that TEPCO started releasing from March 24th. And I have a question concerning the BA-140, LA 140 Cerium-140 decay chain. heres the source info from the water in the turbine room @#3: http://www.tepco.co.jp/en/press/corp-com/release/11032503-e.html http://i8...

A reasonable question, I have provided the appropriate citations in a previous comment.Jccarlton wrote: I have to ask, what are they trying to hide?

Found the vote mentioned on the DCCC site http://dccc.org/blog/entry/house_republicans_vote_to_keep_taxpayer_subsidies_for_big_oil/ Today, House Republicans opposed a Motion to Recommit that would ensure no "tax benefit" could go to a "major integrated oil company." That's a non-sequitur. You are inferring that any decisions to change the top rate of tax are done in isolation from decisions made to change any other tax. Ahhh, Ok. The chart looks at the top personal rate or bracket, it doesn't look at any of the lower brackets, corporate or estate tax revenues ...

So the only way to increase federal tax revenue is to boost the economy. Have to read my qualifier, the chart only shows the top rate, its improper to say "only way to increase revenue". Those top rates generally apply to the richest .1% or so. And they are not effective rates, which as I said are ...

Your point is interesting and is not easily answered. I would suggest the possibility that were more people allowed to keep and spend their own money (by keeping tax rates low) then our economy might be substantially larger, and therefore the total money yield would be greater even with a lower per...

Effective top personal rates have floated around 28% to 36% since 1980, regardless of the published rate 70% to 28%. When you look at effective tax rates, Ind, Estate, Cap Gains, I dont think any of the effective rates are any where near 10% except possibly the corporate effective rates. China spend...

. Anyway, Love wind and solar, hope they work, but right now we need to ramp up proven energy resources. Yeah we have to do some drilling or run the economy into the ground. Solar and wind are not traditional baseload capacity, and that is an issue. That being said, they can provide significant dow...

World wide fossil fuel subsidies are on the order of 500 billion http://www.iea.org/weo/docs/G20_Subsidy_Joint_Report.pdf @ chrismb, a fair point, they all should be subsidized. In the US Energy is too important, and the need to expand out energy portfolio is vital. Adding extra capacity, fission, s...
