Re: ZAP Energy News
Excellent paper, super results. While this dataset provides solid evidence supporting the expected scaling, it does not give a direct measure of the associated efficiency of the process, as yield is plotted as a function of the total plasma current rather than the pinch current itself. (Note further...

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
Indeed, Youtube is not reliable. Helion needs to post a video duplicate for each video on X (IMO).

In the paper, Trenta is reported to be >0.5 m radius and Polaris as >1 m diameter. I found that to be odd and wondered if what was meant was Polaris was >1 m RADIUS? Looking at pictures I am guessing it was a typo in the paper and it should have been >1 m radius.

Re: National Ignition Facility
It will open the entire solar system to habitation as energy from the sun (solar cell derived power) will no longer be a restriction. It is a really big area.space exploration

Re: General Fusion in the news
It was posted that this new, interim machine was planned but GF did not have an announcement on their site. The pressure is on to show progress to utilities that will be making generation plans, remember, utilities have to look at generation in terms of decades. https://mailchi.mp/generalfusion/gene...
Re: LK-99
Commercial fusion is near term and gets no excitement like this superconductor research story, a promise of a possibility. This is absurd, a complete lack of perspective, it smells like normal narrative smoke blowing, IMO. Sorry, UFO's got a lot of excitement too. Fusion is about to change the world...

Re: General Fusion in the news
Helion's time line has put pressure on the fusion industry as a whole, with ZAP a further possible issue. I wonder what General Fusion can do with a smaller machine that aims at only breaking if Helion comes in with net electric (late) 2024? Crunch time.

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
Buildings use cooling towers placed on roofs for their HVAC equipment, so it is common equipment. Helion fusion generators are reported to be 95% net electric efficient, so a 50 MWe generator would be rejecting 2.5 MW of heat. That is not a large cooling tower. Also electric distribution transformer...

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
Helion machines should just need monitoring and should not need cooling ponds, rivers, ocean heat sinks. Location on nuclear fission sites for utility power would be an obvious choice to start with, but location on steel, aluminum foundry sites would also make sense. Eventually, it would make sense ...

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
The shock of net electric from fusion in a 50 MWe plant prototype machine will be earth shattering. Imagine the solar, wind, battery pushers once the announcement blows up the narrative, not to mention the fission people. Late 2024 is only a year away & I see nothing to push that out. Utilities have...

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
Helion's success is all about execution, making the components and systems such as their power delivery electronics and capacitor banks, and the regular progress updates from Helion are proving their ability to execute and meet milestones. Helion is not conducting a science experiment at this point,...

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
The only time that I am aware of that Helion has not met their goals is when there was an investment money shortage. That time is over.
