Re: Sell The Whitehouse to Trump
There are issues with Trump. But with the massive corruption being exposed, aimed at overturning a lawful election, and the judicial and legislative legacy he's building, I think he's the president we Need right now. Any other president wouldn't be driving his opposition to publicly take positions, ...

Re: Sell The Whitehouse to Trump
Wikipedia is not a reliable source on politically charged issues, especially when a fair treatment might tend to challenge the democrat Narrative. I stand by my initial assessment of pizzagate: consistent with the known character of the accused democrats, but short on evidence I'd want to go to cour...

Re: Skynet is coming.
A reasonably sized lithium polymer battery, consumer grade, could deliver a few kW to a one man portable weapon for several minutes. Converting that into useful weapons output is not so trivial.

Re: Sell The Whitehouse to Trump
Over this last week I got several inquiries from apparently headhunters who care more for quantity of applicants than quality, for jobs completely outside what my resume would support. The hiring process is broken.

Re: Sell The Whitehouse to Trump
Where Trump outclasses every other President is in getting corrupt opposition to expose themselves. Which isn't too difficult when you're a fearless SOB who isn't afraid of offending people, and your opposition is so mindlessly opposed to you that they take an opposing stance to anything you say, re...

Re: Skynet is coming.
I've been toying with the idea of electrically powered slug throwers in place of gunpowder. Energy density in the battery isn't anywhere close to a problem. Power density, particularly for higher energy rounds, does look like a problem. My focus has been on electrically powered air guns, and a compa...

Presuming the laser gun does work, mirrors. Retro-reflector corner cubes even. Or for improvised protection, aluminum foil, shiny side out.

I don't think there's room for my opinion of the USPTO to drop any further. What moron would approve that patent?

Re: Forbes Article on Fusion
AGNI focuses a beam of ions, which is half of the fuel, onto a solid target which is the other half of the fuel. As far as I can make out this is beam-target fusion, not beam driven inertial confinement. Everything I've seen about that approach is not favorable to net fusion gain. And the described...

Re: SpaceX News
Contrast with the SLS, "designed for manned flight", but unlikely to even have half that many launches, if it flies at all.ladajo wrote:Next up is a block V I think. I believe NASA wants SpaceX to launch 10 of them prior to authorizing manned certification.

Re: The list of duds
Can you unpack what you mean with "short term" beyond "5 seconds". Also, "high capacity storage"? I recall articles from the late 1970s, early 1980s, when it was hoped that advanced flywheels could match batteries for energy capacity, and hold it for hours or even days. Anticipated applications inc...

Re: The list of duds
Flywheels have applications. They do great for surge delivery of mechanical energy. The high energy density flywheels intended to replace large batteries haven't delivered the combination of attributes to compete for that purpose. Battery tech having advanced at the same time the flywheels were rese...

Re: SpaceX News
The falcon 9 or heavy do not fulfill the mars/ moonraker 8) roll that NASA has envisioned. I will take the support of a government to have a new colony on mars and I feel the BFR is the only way NASA will get on board with the program. Once NASA figures out they can launch probes using the BFR they...
