Indrek - Dr Nebel has gone very quiet - it seems it is all up to you now :)

is your model complete and accurate yet? ;)

what happens if yu make the whole magrid structure oblate - like a like a rubgy(-foot) ball?

ragarding it simply as a cavity surface - then use MHD flow? use the cusps to extend the well?

I wouldn't recommend doing a lot of modelling of the arcing right now. We've been looking at it, and it's complicated. It's not just a Paschen breakdown to the chamber wall. However, rather than sticking my foot in my mouth (by saying something that's not correct) let me say that we don't understan...

actually, I would be quite interested in a complete round-up of what fusion is up to - amongst others i'm wondering what is happening with our Australian friends - Dr. Joe Khachan - http://www.talk-polywell.org/bb/viewtopic.php?t=509 . i'm also wondering if our dear friend http://www.talk-polywell.o...

Art Carlson suggested a while ago that his money would be on Reversed Field Configurations - maybe self organized plasma is the best direction?

Now why on earth hasn't this been built yet?
They got $45M from Paul Allen's VC company and may be building it as we speak.
Thanks for the info TallDave - I shall certainly be keeping a weather-eye from now on - any idea of their project plan/timescales?

I've been out of the field for a looong time, so I can't say much about the current state or the best reviews. Google seems to turn up a lot, like this white paper . Thanks for that Dr Carlson, I shall certainly give it a good read through. A very nice looking approach here - circa 2000 - 'Thick Li...

Your quote regarding - 'line cusps' is this referring to containment in the absence of the Wiffle Ball inflation effect (difficult to guess out of context, I'm afraid I don't yet have access to the paper)? . Unless I misunderstood something, this is after going to high beta (= whiffle ball made). S...

Hi Dr Carlson I just loved your 'eviscerative' salvo - and sardonic to boot!) - I'm sure Dr Bussard would be truly gutted - were he with us. I'd really love to take you on concerning your 'electrons taking two paths at once' concept - alas, I think my both my maths and physics will fall woefully sho...

i cant help thinking that scattering will be an 'uncontrolled' problem, also as you suggest alpha sputtering. I am of a different opinion . I believe the real annealing mechanism is beam bunching (klystron like). If that is predominant [POPS results and several simulations including the MIT papers ...

This should do for a start. I believe the true believers talk about getting recirculation factors of 1000 or 10,000 (because that is what they need to compensate for the poor cusp confinement, which I argue is even poorer than they think). I can't imagine getting more than a factor of 10 Unless we ...

my guess is along the following lines of reasoning:: 1) the WB7 programme was missioned principally with confirming the 'snap-shot' results of the WB6, before it blew up and coincidentally that contract concluded. 2) the WB7 is purportedly 'spinning like a top and producing data 'all day long' - whi...

Is Rider's paper discredited? Probably not. Disputed, certainly. We probably need experimental data at MW energies to really know for sure. I think that was really one of the points of my thread here - are we really likely ever to achieve data at those levels - at least in any 'continuous' burn reg...

Hi To TallDave:: a different definition of 'ignition' - thats a useful idea to work with - thanks. i still do wonder though, how we maintain the well (and the core) whilst at the same time producing and extracting a 'useful' amount of energy out of it. If some degrees of asymmetry were to be incorpo...
