I understand your point too well. That's why I can't answer your question. It's like the case with any values conflict or especially the cases of moral dilemma: as soon as you take a stand the counter-examples pour in to make your stand look wrong because you are in fact looking at a lesser evil/gr...

I thought he made good points if he himself believed what he stated was true. I have no reason to believe he was lying. I think he very much believes what he says. If this stuff is as bad and as widespread as i think he believes, I think that is a good reason for also believing it should be outlawed...

Those are very good points. But I think one can still pull a useful measure from them. For example, what percentage rate of ruined lives would be "acceptable?" It's horrible, but society does this all the time. If everything else was otherwise the same for canibis, but if only 1% of people suffered ...

It sounds awful. So this would be appear to be SO bad for society in general that it should be banned. Is there any drug you can think of that may be used recreationally whose effects are not so bad to society that it should be banned? Nicotine maybe? Not good, does cost society, but perhaps not bad...

Prohibition and Bath Salts
There is a lot of talk about drugs and prohibition here. What about recent experiences with substances that sneak through only to become prohibited after a time? I wonder if it would be instructive to look at that. I keep hearing about something called Bath Salts. Apparently, for a time, they were l...

What are you going to do about it?
So I have been skimming the other posts under the General topic and it seems folks think things are grim, bleak and the outlook is negative. As me old man would say when I found myself at a low point, "What are ya' DO about it?" Anyone plan to take action in addition to posting to a board where many...

Hey, neat. I wonder where they will land and where they might setup a permanent base? Ring one or both poles with electrical wires and solar collectors. Say around 80 to 85 degrees north or south. Build your base nearby at the same latitude. Now mine the ice. You have 24/7 power, and water for fuel,...

Where would move?
Here is something for all political persuasions on this board who are citizens of any country. Assuming your political leaders and the general political climate in your country became so antithetical to what you believe, what are your top three choices for other countries to which you would move? In...
