Re: EM Drive

Sounds like the answer was "your answer is in his model".

I really do hope they have something but I just don't see it.

Re: Musk's Powerwall

It's certainly a lithium battery, as this is what Tesla's giga-factory was designed to build. Are they better than other LiPos? Probably not in their power density or energy density, but reportedly in their cost, and it is the cost of LiPos that makes them unattractive for things like electric cars....

Re: Musk's Powerwall

Very impressive. No matter how you think about the AGW and carbon issue, it should be obvious that going pure solar/electric is worth investigation. I can see he glossed over some of the difficulties, such as procuring lithium on this scale, but this is the plan we should have had back starting in t...

Re: EM Drive

I couldn't help but notice in Rodal's piece that they quote the eagle claims that this modulation generates more thrust, and that their recent simulation explains why, as well as why the dielectric produces thrust, but neither of those explanations have been published in any forum so far as I'm awar...

Re: EM Drive

They were very nice and more than fair to Eagle. I would just point out a few corrections/objections I have. The magnetrons used in the past are not like that in a microwave oven. Shawyer and the Chinese both used Continuous Wave Magnetrons. The $25 vacuum tubes in a microwave over are not CW tubes ...

Re: BLP news

Well do be fair. When he disappears he puts dozens of people to work and he presents every year on the results. I think he's presented to the American Chemical Society every year for more than two decades. Then again, they're not the ones who want to burn him as a heretic.

Re: LENR Is Real

So how is this useful? Rossi's pockets seems to have gotten quite a good benefit from this line of action ;) That may be, but I doubt he's made anything like he will if he proves his case. And though I do appreciate all the criticism, I hope he has what he says he has. I am habitually hesitant when...

Re: Since we had this discussion about UAVs and F22s etc...

Even if you are bouncing to Geo, that's 35k km each way, or 70k km. . .no where near a second. When you look at the vast difference between AI and human reaction times, drones are probably much faster than human pilots, especially given they can pull 12 gee maneuvers and humans generally about 4 max.

Re: BLP news

Certainly Mills and his crew believe what they are doing is real and their explanation is correct. He's not the charlatan many accuse him to be. And when you look at the chemical results, they are most impressive. I'm not saying I agree with his physics, nor that what he has works, but he is no char...

Re: LENR Is Real

How can anyone know this is the reaction has not yet run its course? See http://www.elforsk.se/Global/Omv%C3%A4rld_system/filer/LuganoReportSubmit.pdf Your comment is so thoughtless it makes me think (again) this site is not worth posting to. Obviously the heat generated was more than could have be...

Re: EM Drive

I am asking myself the opposite question. Why it works with the dielectric. A PE/PP or PTFE immersed in an RF medium might become the fuel that generates the thrust. As per the M-E explanation, it is basically that they would have had to provide the necessary conditions for a Mach-Effect or mass fl...

Re: BLP news

It's interesting, but again this is not a net power in v power out analysis so I'm not sure what it is supposed to demonstrate. You can form a plasma with high current on nearly anything. The point then seems to be that there was no current at the time of the detonation, but one still has to wonder ...

Re: EM Drive

I am not really convinced by the "virtual particle push argument". There seems to be indeed an interaction with some kind of force (and/or particle) we still don't understand. . . It's noteworthy that the resonator apparently does not produce any thrust when there is no dielectric in it. This viola...

Re: EM Drive

Sometimes competing explanations for the same effect end up being analogous. GIThruster keeps mentioning that Van der Waals forces is an alternate explanation to the casimir effect. Van der Waals force is the result of random fluctuations of the charge distribution leading to coupled dipoles of oth...
