Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

SJ, thank you very much for the links. Some of the best overviews I have seen. The jump in power out from 500 MW to 1 GW is impressive and suggestive of a high probability of success. It seems like all the areas of risk are highly manageable. Pretty exciting. I note though that it the first video an...

Re: Go Navy!

While I might not support the result, one has to acknowledge the planning and skill required to produce a recognizable figure. However, I am guessing fuel dump was used, bringing the environmental issues into play in characterizing this stunt of significant airmanship! R Glenn Retired (proud) Naval ...

Re: Goodbye Tension, Hello Pension

I officially retired after 26 years in the US Navy on Sunday. I was able to pull the go into work in uniform on Friday and show up on Monday in a suit. Some downsides but having a steady pay check is nice.

Re: Mach Effect progress

"Improvement of the current laboratory-scale devices, in order to provide long duration thrust at levels required for practical propulsion applications." darn, that is exciting! Oh the possibilities. Interesting question on the size of the planet versus technological capability to escape. One might ...

Re: NIAC, University of Maryland IEC, what is it?

It's just numerical simulation followed by "more detailed" modeling and numerical simulation. Still, NASA looking at it is good!

Re: Too early for Polywell?

Hanelyp, you mistake my supposition about the discussion being based on an assumption. If you want to argue the assumption, there are plenty of other threads to do so. What I am saying is the thread is based on the assumption climate change is happening, that the global average temperature is increa...

Re: Too early for Polywell?

I have been slow to respond because I have been a little busy and a little surprised. First, I guess I should have stated more clearly from the beginning that an opening assumption to this discussion is that the planet is warming and that we humans are responsible for it. If you don't agree with tha...

Re: Bill Gates is heading a $1 billion venture fund to combat climate change

I don't normally post in these threads because I find it frustrating and a waste of my time. However, my son's future is dependent on the decisions we make today. To continue to remain silent is to leave to others the right of influence. I find it interesting that people are even arguing about facts...

Re: Too early for Polywell?

Well, I was never suggesting the idea of too much energy. What I was suggesting was the idea of getting too much energy too cheaply! We are just beginning to learn that there are non-monetary costs to energy. My question is if we find a source of energy that almost eliminates the non-monetary costs ...
