Re: MIT claim they will build the SPARC

The dollars will undoubteldy be spent on the SPARC magnets and on the ARC development work. A diverse workforce is good so that they have access to a broad range of talent. A policy like that will not cost extra.

Re: ZAP Energy News

Thanks Crowberry for the navigation to the abstracts. LPP with their limited budget seems to have dealt with the impurities & ZAP seems to believe that impurities will not be a show stopper. Real life is always tough, though. Yes, Zap Energy seems to think that the impurity and erosion problems can...

For sake of closure, rumor has it that their CFR project was shut down pre-COVID. I don't have any sources to cite, but this might be as much as we ever hear. There has been no news for a long time, but the webpage is still up at https://www.lockheedmartin.com/en-us/products/compact-fusion.html . I...

Re: National Ignition Facility

I Was NiF ever imagined to be practical? In my "I am not a physicist" ignorance it always seemed silly -- all those acres of amplifiers and capacitors all focusing multiple lasers on a teeny weensy dot, and then one shot at a time. Even if that dot (well, hohlraum) could be rapidly replaced, and ev...
