I would argue that the amount of funding polywell requires is trivial compared to what the DoE is already wasting on NIF, tokamak, and other immense wastages. I can easily see the Navy getting the DoE's funding for fusion nixed while they move polywell to black budget.

Personally, I think Muller did this simply to get off the governments funding bla...

You can't consent when you don't understand to what you are consenting. Ha ha ha ha ha! Hilarious. Also, nonsense. People "consent" all the time without knowing the future. It is the essense of mature adult life. It is also the reason why children are often protected from situations where immaturit...

If their plan is to use the engines to stop the stage 1 in mid-air, at least horizontally, it's possible it could make it down with no heat shield altogether. Yeah, but they showed a heat shield in the video. I guess it will be minimal. My 10% was very conservative. They might also do aerobreaking ...

some experts say poses serious dangers. Heh. To the investors, maybe. I don't know if I'd heard Bezos was involved before. Best of luck to them, it's an interesting approach and it's not impossible it could work. Richardson said General Fusion is still three years away from actually attempting a fu...

Which paper are you referring at because in the paper I'm looking at: http://gltrs.grc.nasa.gov/reports/2004/CR-2004-213310.pdf there is no constant K. There, the mass variation of a charging capacitor is completely determined without any need for unknown parameters. Apparently tomclarke is unreach...

I thought Fentanyl produced a poor high, and junkies weren't so stupid as to use something that dangerous. Junkies will use whatever relieves their pain that they can afford/get their hands on if they dont have an option. "Saving" junkies from their addictions is counter-evolutionary, and rarely wo...

Seems that world wide, the NATURAL average birth ratio is about 1.05 m/f. There are a FEW countries that seem to be selectively aborting females and have a significantly higher ratio. But in a large number of countries, despite a normal BIRTH ratio, and even a reletively normal teen ratio, the adul...
