Custom build motors and exotics are well outside of the commercial realm. Thanks for the links, I knew the AF had made some progress on supercooled motors. For Tesla, pulling 288HP out of a 70lb frame is pretty darn cool. I wonder what its life span is projected for? You can do some neat stuff with ...

I'd love to have the info for a school paper, or probably rather an interpretation of it--I'm no scientist yet. Isn't it about time? I can send paypal so you get it faster. paper's due in about a week though, so unless you can get it to me quick... Another evil of school. Real time is not the same ...

http://www.amazon.com/150hp-1790RPM-Leeson-Electric-
G151371/dp/B000AAVYW8

8 X 13 roughly equates to a 184 Frame motor. Typically 184 does not get more than 5HP in a 3phase AC. Its heavy, but you can pick it up. To put it in perspective, a 150HP AC 3phase would be about a 445 Frame. That would make it about 22 inches in diameter, and approx 32 inches long. (not counting th...

... 150 HP Toyota weighed over a ton... ... in-house motor was 8 inches long and 13 inches in diameter... somewhere between 250 and 500 HP.... 8inches long and 13inches in diameter seems purdy darn small for something pushing 250-500HP. Granted just a guess. Your numbers don't match up. 150HP over ...

I do not think I would associate the words "compact" and "electric motor" when speaking of 250-1500HP. In the conventional market you are talking about serious motors with serious metal, be they AC or DC. Now if you are talking superconducting motors, that is another topic. If you want to narrow dow...

I got some feedback today from NAVAIR to clarify the "releasability" part. It is on EMC2 to justify (if they choose to try) proprietary information for them and a desire to withhold from public release. This is the final wicket apparently. The offers to pay the fees are appreciated, but not so necce...

Msimon, Can't see your pic. Would like to though. Chris, I dunno, I haven't been to Red Lobster in a while...the real drama will be hiding the $21 expense from my wife  Hopefully they get back next week or the week after with the final determination. I am also going to ask for whatever gets re...

Second Update of the day. In response to my asking; The listed reports make up a total of about 235 pages. The first 100 pages are free. The additional pages are $0.15 each. That makes for about $20.25 Let's see, Red Lobster, or feed the voracious wolves here at talk-polywell. Hmmm. If Art and Chris...

Today I rcvd a letter from NAVAIR Weapons. They have enacted an extension for 10 days. The 10 days is to allow for the releasability review. The following documents have been identified in the letter to meet the FOIA Request. Upon approval are up for release under the 100 pages limit: 1) Review Comm...

The way I understaood it, is that "I" the requestor, have to have an established mecahnism already to reach "The General Public". I can not use the FOIA as the mechnism to generate interest or an audience. The interest and audience should already exist. Outside of the discussion of getting it all fo...

"A large (by UK terms) 5 bedroom house (in the country) has an area of about 100 sq. m." Good lord! My 5 bedroom here in the states is 250m^2. You never should have taxed the tea... You got me wondering how "big" my house is. I guess there are various ways of measuing it, but my UK 4 bed house come...
