Re: youtube Polywell critique with response from EMC2!

It does seem a bit fishy this guy drops out of nowhere with the critique. I was really glad to see Nick Krall's dismantling of the critique. It was also funny to see the rebuttal to Nick essentially being "well, do these tests/answer these questions and maybe Polywell isn't what I said." This whole ...

Re: EM Drive

It's amazing on many fronts. The Space Access point alone is worthy of deep discussion. SpaceX has so abruptly changed the argument, major space companies are still not fully grasping it. Falcon 9 has done more for space than Apollo at this point. Now, with Starship on the verge of successful flight...

Re: We lost so many members :(

Maybe we will see a resurgence given this news from EMC2/SHINE partnering.

Re: Feeling lonely sometimes

Hey all! I feel remiss about my intermittent joinings these last few years.
That said, I am very excited about the current release of the DOE EMC2/SHINE proposal. It looks to me like Polywell is the heart of the thing.
Let's get some dialog and discussion going!

Re: EMC2 in the news with DOE FPNS proposal!

What's truly interesting here is the proposal looks very dependent on EMC2 IP and expertise. The underlaying story here seems to be SHINE saying they can't do it without EMC2 Polywell, and EMC2 looking like they could do it without SHINE. Thus, it reads as if SHINE is essentially EMC2's customer for...

Re: We lost so many members :(

This has been one of Jaeyoung's tenets in growth. The shift in plasma science from physical test articles to simulations. The advances accomplished make that viable. Thus a shift in focus.

Good chance things are in the offing I think.

I am also glad to see the core members still around.

Re: We lost so many members :(

Everything I have heard or seen says they are cutting, not growing the budget. The navy also failed to deliver an actual ship building plan this year, and recycled the last one. Rough seas ahead I suspect. Overall, the force is shifting in emphasis to smaller (even unmanned) platforms to do jobs whi...

Re: We lost so many members :(

Well, I am not dead yet. :)
Glad to see some old timers still around.

"Hammer of God..."

By the by, EMC2 is still not dead either. New focuses, same premises. If Jaeyoung gains more traction you may yet see something. Been a lot of work on the simulation side these last couple of years.

Re: More Helion Energy news....

Yes, I presume that we won't see results for Helion's new device before some time next year. Would be exciting to see them reach break even in 2019! The others are not that far behind either and we might see several contenders reach break even in the coming 5 years. Given the currently known timeli...

This would appear to be another PRC front for gaining access to tech and research, IMHO.

Re: SpaceX News

On another note, wasn't SpaceX thinking to dirt land the dragon with retros after a parachute braking in the past?
Has this been discarded to the trash heap of developmental tangents?
