Re: 10KW LENR demonstrator (new thread)

Well the third party report vindicates Andrea Rossi. A COP of 3 and 6 in two tests lasting over a 100 hours. Comparison with a dummy reactor to check the temperature with just electric power alone. See Mat Lewan's comment here http://matslew.wordpress.com/2013/05/20/two-100-hour-scientific-tests-co...

Re: 10KW LENR demonstrator (new thread)

2- I can say that the cost for enrichment is not substantial for the global economy of the process This is somewhat reminiscent of something Rick pointed out a while back -- the fuel cost is generally so proportionately small for fission LWRs that consumers would barely notice the difference if ura...

Re: 10KW LENR demonstrator (new thread)

I'm with Kite on this, healthy skepticism is warranted, but most critics are pretty far beyond that. I have never seen a good non-LENR explanation for the public tests. Rossi is either a genius-level charlatan or a mediocre scientist/entrepreneur with terrible PR skills who has stumbled onto somethi...

Re: Is the ABSENCE of news, news?

Insurance companies aren't big into science fiction. They're more concerned about things that are going to impact their bottom line. Indeed. Irrational panics are an insurer's best friend, they get to collect premiums for insuring against things that will never happen. 8) As I said before, the prob...

Maybe, but the funding process seems to de-emphasize results in favor of campaign contributions.

Re: 10KW LENR demonstrator (new thread)

Beware the half of April. Rossi says he has a secret FL factory, possibly staffed by Oompa-Loompas for security reasons  Seriously, I would guess he has a tenuous subcontracting relationship with someone (the stuff he's doing is not that difficult) and he's probably not producing anything yet....

Re: 10KW LENR demonstrator (new thread)

Interesting that some of the E-Cat news sites have given up on Rossi and his tech. This one is still going. http://www.ecatnews.net/ I still think there's probably something to Rossi's devices, but not sure what. Still interested in all third-party observations of his machines. Defkalion has some pa...

Re: Rick Nebel Discussed DC Transformer Project in Los Alamo

Ironically, this may actually make Polywells slightly less viable. Remember, a major PW selling point is the reactor size, because of the distribution problems of really big reactors. If you make the distribution problem smaller, bigger reactors make more sense. Of course that's all marginal next to...

Re: Rick Nebel Discussed DC Transformer Project in Los Alamo

Well, Exelon is certainly a serious player. Hope this works out for Rick!

I wonder what the voltage limits are, and how noisy the output is.

Re: EMC2 lends plasma source to nat'l lab

Apparently EMC2 had a Russian plasma gun lying around. I wonder how old it is.

Hard to read anything into this. It doesn't sound like something they were using in WB-8.

Re: Is the ABSENCE of news, news?

Interesting post classicpenny. There’s been enough time, people. The Polywell is not a difficult concept. I have to disagree. PhDs who have worked in the plasma field for decades have a very hard time understanding the nuances of a driven, non-LTE machine. In fact I would go so far as to say virtual...

Re: Some guy at Google likes this

I can understand their hesitancy, there are some fundamental questions that cannot be answered from the publicly available data. And EMC2 probably prefers to work with the Navy. If the Navy decides to cut EMC2 loose, things might be different. As it stands, we don't really know how WB-8 is faring ex...

Re: Mach Effect progress

kurt9 -- My understanding of the generally accepted wormhole is that, assuming you could generate and sustain one, you would never be able to "travel back in time" except in a very limited sense. You could never travel to a time before the wormhole was created, and time would continue to pass on bot...
