For the prospect of the navy, do you think D+D reactors are the most likely candidates, due to the availability of fuel from the seawater? Or is the process of extracting the deuterium from seawater too involved to make it worth the space and weight of equipment involved, and be better off just sto...

Would the net power gain from a direct conversion device be drastically affected by increasing the radius for larger polywells ... The short answer is "No," as MSimon has already said. The alphas are basically traveling through vacuum and encounter no resistance once they escape the polywell, via t...

Layman quesion here fellas Concerning direct conversion of alpha particles and the r^7 scaling..... Would the net power gain from a direct conversion device be drastically affected by increasing the radius for larger polywells, due to the increased distance the alphas have to cover while travelling ...

If you build it, they will come? :D How's everything progressing Rob, have you found the path yet? I'm floundering about myself, about to change gears completely with a full reverse course from History to Physics/Engineering at the 60 credit hour mark. All because I had to watch Dr Bussards video on...

Howdy, Something I am curious about concerning fuel sources (considering that I am a total layman here, go easy on me :D ). The way I understand it, any element that becomes ionized once introduced into the system could be used as fuel because it would be attracted to the electron well in the center...
