Wow, those are some fantastic visualizations Indrek.

After engineering constraints the key to an efficient working polywell is understanding the core. I have been studying core dynamics all week, and seeing those pictures inspired some fresh thinking.

I would think fiberoptic would be great for a radiation environment. Plus it's fast. Or it may be possible to modulate the electron beams to excite the frequency. In fact we might even be able to excite it by modulating the magnetic fields. well if you look at the (seminal) 2006-9 IAC Paper FIG 18, page 23 the WB-6 test run graph quotes 3.00 x 1.3e4 nts/ct @ 10 secs If anyone has some better info on test runs id love to see it. POPS is definitely a big thing. I have suspected for sometime that a working polywell will almost definitely use some form of resonant/ oscillatory drive MSimon where does your 1-30mz come from. hi eclipse, i do think television coverage like that is a bit premature. Besides they need something to film, you have to remember there aren't any experimental reactors anywhere in the world, (except for the secret one in china :P) with whats left of wb6 and test equipment lying around at Spacedev....

Well at least the control issues seem to get a little easier as we increase scale.

Electrons and ions circulate around the racecourse that is the magrid. I haven't seen any discussion on the effect cyclotron radiation/ocillation might have on the performance of the machine if any.
