Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024

And high voltage tested them already.

We desperately need to take every bit out of the schedule possible. Helion seems to not miss anything after their experience with building so many prototypes. News from Helion and Zap will shake the world energy tree.

Re: ZAP Energy News

Zap Energy has a new paper out on electrode wear: https://pubs.aip.org/aip/pop/article/30/10/100601/2915124/Electrode-durability-and-sheared-flow-stabilized-Z The sheared-flow-stabilized (SFS) Z-pinch concept is on a path to commercialization at Zap Energy. Recent experiments on the Fusion Z-pinch E...

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024

IMO, the importance of the NUCOR deal is that it enables Helion to make plans & helps ramp up their factory.

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024

It is not clear from Helion's press release on the 500 MWe power plant for NUCOR, but I presume it is ten 50 MWe fusion electric power generators?

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024

The biggest issue for foundries has been the loss of low cost coal power. Helion's low cost electric power will change that. This will be a revolution especially for aluminum. Titanium is also dependent on low cost electric power.

Re: ZAP Energy News

Excellent paper, super results. While this dataset provides solid evidence supporting the expected scaling, it does not give a direct measure of the associated efficiency of the process, as yield is plotted as a function of the total plasma current rather than the pinch current itself. (Note further...

Indeed, Youtube is not reliable. Helion needs to post a video duplicate for each video on X (IMO).

SJ
In the paper, Trenta is reported to be >0.5 m radius and Polaris as >1 m diameter. I found that to be odd and wondered if what was meant was Polaris was >1 m RADIUS? Looking at pictures I am guessing it was a typo in the paper and it should have been >1 m radius.

space exploration
It will open the entire solar system to habitation as energy from the sun (solar cell derived power) will no longer be a restriction. It is a really big area.

Re: General Fusion in the news

It was posted that this new, interim machine was planned but GF did not have an announcement on their site. The pressure is on to show progress to utilities that will be making generation plans, remember, utilities have to look at generation in terms of decades. https://mailchi.mp/generalfusion/gene...
