Re: Jäderberg future power - Swedish fusion startup
Actually these are two different patents, as the URLs seem to imply: Mine above is ...patent/20220367069 call this patent A Yours is ...patent/WO2022101356A1..... call this patent B and leaving aside the reference numbers, the text is different! Annoyingly, I can't find patent A on Google patents, a...

Re: Tokamak Energy news
OK, incorrect as stated. Maybe 'private tokamaks' record? Don't know, and if so not so much competition.

Re: KSTAR - South Korea's magnetic fusion device
This sounds interesting, a supposedly new operational mode to control instabilities in Tokamaks. I haven’t read the paper itself:

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
Well that all reconciles: 18 months at one every 10 minutes is about 80,000 shots. Allow them to sleep, and tens of thousands is about right. But that’s of the order of a day at 1Hz. There is room for doubt that any wear component be it divertor, capacitor, vacuum pump etc is sufficiently robust for...

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
18 months runtime - but how many runs?
In production, even at 1Hz, the number of runs will mount very fast.
Where are they really?

"As will be shown, for all operating conditions above 20 keV, a high-beta D-He-3 FRC outperforms a low-Beta D-T plasma in terms of electrical and fusion power output."

Re: ZAP Energy News
Narrowly you’re right. But the observation that projects fail because of unforeseen problems is right, and always will be. That said, the confluence of progress at the moment is remarkable. Maybe all we’ve ever needed were mega-amp, megavolt systems with megajoule capacitor banks and mega-gauss fiel...

Cold fusion conference:

Looks like fun! Apparently the biggest in a few decades…
Like I said, the hot (government) fusion guys will not go quietly. The treatment of cold fusion is….. relevant?

Re: Video from Renaissance Fusion
FWIW I didn’t rate their chances of success very highly. They seem to be wanting to re-invent the HTSC manufacturing process. They want a 45 cm (!!) thick flow of lithium hydride down the wall of a horizontal cylinder, pinned by lorentz forces, with liquid lead floating on top (?). And they are look...

Re: Sabine Hossenfelder on nuclear fusion
Seems like most people will lie to your face to protect their livelihood. I think she’s right, the confusion over Q is deliberate where it helps. However, this is mostly common knowledge, so doesn’t ‘blow up’ anything, I think. Worth thinking about what the ITER ‘industry’ does when/if Helion genera...
