Um yeah, what about them ? Like these ones ? http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff283/mr_squeegs/uk2...

Friends and fusioneers. Its been more than a year now since i started this voyage of discovery, following the work of many great minds before me. During it all i have made a deliberate attempt to keep my mind open, but never in my wildest dreams could i have anticipated where it has led. Some of you...

Cheers Simon !

Kcdodd, admitedly it could be lense flare.

I dont wish to speculate, but the toroid mirror surface forms a convex lense.

I dont know why the very top of the toroid should be so bright when the wiffle ball is below it.

Which leads me to believe it could be something else :?:

So I'm getting the impression that the interior density is dependent on the exterior electron density, but since ions should not have long lifetimes in the region external to the magrid, the electrons will be un-neutralized and will cause a space charge, which might be unreasonably large. Ok, I've ...

To make this system a reality, the primary challenge that must be overcome is keeping the plasma beam focused over long distances. Challenging to put it mildly. It apears the beam system would reside in Orbit. So the Main problem would appear to be - How are you going to power it ? Solar panels see...

Is it just me ? or does anyone else think that services like this will compromise the internet when every Tom, Dick and Harry hop onboard. Or Mt. Everest could be converted to a space port. That'd be a fun project. Meybe even launch a few a few project orions from there  Im sure the greens would love it. Which brings me to my next point. 8) We (as in the Human Race) need Polywell. We are having a hard time even affording it. Henc...

well.... if it is possible to keep non maxwellian energy distributions, conquer thermal issues, and scale a few orders of magnitude, i was definitely planning to hit up some Data Centres. I'm sure they will be a big customer in the future :)

Re: Throttling and idling....

How does one throttle and idle a direct-conversion polywell reactor? Demand for energy will vary, so how do you turn it down without turning it off? Throttling the fusion reaction itself would be very difficult. The nice little power bump you feel in a car engine doesnt exists on jet engines. They ...

^ I wish i could find some good data on alphas and diamond. I am really interested to know how much sputtering would really happen. The SP3 bond is pretty special. Also remember 12C is one step in the p + 11B reaction. Boron is nice. Im yet to look up the cross sections, but as posted earlier 11B + ...

^ Hey Indrek, nice to see you back. I was just about to post up that same pic, lol. It really does a great job of explaining beta conditions. In any realistic device, the effective overall trapping factor is reduced from the pure WB mode by circulation through the semi-line-cusps at the spaced corne...

Oh, now I wish I could recall where I saw a quote, but I can't. Somebody speaking of the Polywell process said that the neutrons produced would be few enough Hey Mike H. Yes the p + B11 reaction can produce neutrons in side reactions. Fortunately this need not apply to polywell as evident in this e...
