That's an unusual set-up but it should be solvable, theoretically. Signal timing is still a problem though. How big is your system? Room size or geographically big. I mean, is it feasible to run the whole system from a single clock by distributing a timing signal? Say a few meters cable run? You mi...

1 radio transmitter at a known location sending out a high frequency signal, and then a triplet of receivers to triangulate their relative location to the transmitter. Can I use the signal received by each device, and compare it similarly to how laser range finders work, and get the relative distan...

Mostly speculation, but if you need mm precision and accuracy. Then the wavelengths of the radio signal needs to be perhaps 1/2 that length(or with phase shift measurements perhaps several mm wavelengths would serve(?). Phase shifts are I assume variant over one wavelength. If the timing signal is ...

GPS is all about the clocks. The atomic synch clocking is how the trangulation is determined. This is some other stuff that goes into it to account for atmospherics, frame drag, and what not, but the core idea is that you know when the signal is sent (encoded in the signal), and you know the timing...

Do laser range finders use phase change to measure distance? I thought it was a simple time of flight there and back again. Both. :) Time of flight measurements would seem more straight forward. Either radar, returning a round trip pulse, or atomic clocks on the sender and receiver that are calibra...

Radio based triangulation(Any electrical engineers about?)

I'm wondering if there are any electrical engineers around that can cure my curiosity for me. I'm a comp sci guy, and I've been thinking there are loads of applications for hardware that can get millimeter precision location data for a system of objects. The best solution I've seen so far is MIT's c...

Please think for a moment! When have religious leaders ever believed their own crap? It is a historical fact that they have not. It has always been about power and dominance and control. It has never been about religion! Right. And it's left our history free of holy war after holy war after holy wa...

He is the same to Shia Muslims as the Pope is to Roman Catholics, right down to how he manages to get the position through decades of devout training and study under previous religious scholars. You may have noticed that despite all the power reasons, the selection and grooming process for that kin...

Logic, history and talking to people from the region... Admittedly, we have way to many of them here, but it gives me the odd opportunity to proble their minds, every now and then. Quite enlightening. Specifics please. Waving your hands and declaring your evidence is people you've talked to and his...

they are just the local garden variety of powerhungry "I want world dominance" kind of nut and not the suicide bomber religious kind of nut. And again, what do you base this on? It runs contrary to everything they have said, right? It runs contrary to their open founding and support of He...

Supporting religious nuts does not mean that you yourself are a religious nut. The US supported the Taliban in Afghanistan (once again, bad choice of allies) with weapons, intelligence and more, when they were fighting the Soviets there. That did not make the US politicians religious muslim fanatic...

Yes, but funding a militia like Hezbollah is not suicidal insanity (the guys funding Hebollah and their families are still very much alive, Hezbollahs suicide terrorists are "just strangers" to them anyway). Again, you fail to see my point, or I fail to see yours. My point is there is pla...

As I recall before May of 1940 the Austrian Corporal was only talking like a nut. After that he was a nut. Msimon, you got that wrong. He always was a nut and in the beginning nobody even noticed... IIRC he was man of the year in time magazine of 1933, wasnt he (but I might be misinformed there, ju...
