Re: EM Drive

I didn't find the leaked paper very convincing. While I'm not a physicist, I did note some issues that my CSEE degree at least recognizes.

Re: EM Drive

Well folks, looks like the "leaked" paper and all the rumors have been sourced to an NSF member that goes by the name "TheTravellerReturns." This particular NSF user has a history of rage-quitting their forum only to come back. Has denied he was the source, although that denial is hard to refute now...

Re: BLP news

Come on already. He has been peddling this same shit for the last 10 years to potential investors. Every year he says he's a year away from a commercial product and every year, for the last 10+ years, that goal post moves. Give it a rest already. It's vaporware.

Re: EM Drive

That article is strong in speculation, weak in evidence. As far as I understand it, the thruster that China is testing is an Ion Thruster. I can see how one could get confused when writing this piece. Also, we know unequivocally that the X37B is testing a hall thruster at the moment. Once again, I c...

Re: EM Drive

That leak appears to be their 2015 paper that wasn't accepted. It still references the original frustum.

Re: Another EEStor?

I sometimes wonder if we as a group were of a lower moral standard, how impressive a scam we could build and profit from. I'm thankful we are not those people, but given the success of these weak scammers thus far, imagine what we could rake in.

My views align with the above reddit poster. These are the exact issues with the EM Drive and what is going on.

Re: EM Drive

Georgio, paperburn... are you referring to Cannae, SPR or Eagleworks? I'll be honest, I didn't follow up Eagleworks closely so I will refrain on commenting on them until i see some more reports. My original comment was referred to SPR and Cannae. The first claims for both was quite bold, even in th...

Re: EM Drive

Umm.. I think you are mistaken. The very first conference paper that Eagle Works published was for their experiment using a Frustum similar to shawyers but it had a Dielectric insert in it. Whites entire theory for why the thing works is based on the need for that Die electric insert. They also inc...

Re: EM Drive

Good to hear. My predictions, for what they're worth: 1. The paper won't settle the controversy. 2. Just possibly they'll be able to report reproduction by another group in NASA. 3. Skeptics will continue to attack the experimental apparatus and the signal to noise. I agree with #1. I disagree with...

Re: EM Drive

I think the part that your missing in your analysis is that the EagleWorks setup is different. Shawyer/Yang and quite a few of the DIY are all running frustums with no die electric in them. While the EagleWorks and Cannae versions have die electrics in them. While I have no clue what effect the die...

Re: EM Drive

In my opinion, given the data that has come out thus far, there is nothing to this EM Drive. My primary issues are that Shawyer has never shared the full specifications of his build, EagleWorks failed to replicate thrust, and Yang altered her experiment, moving the power source onto the pendulum wit...

Re: EM Drive

Their claims are vague at best. They have no published work that has gone through peer-review, nor any public demonstrations at this point. We know so little about their setup and results. That being said, the best recorded results thus far were from the Chinese professor (Yang) who later moved the ...
