Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

Solar? Got trees, snow, you get feet of snow and need heat? On your roof maintenance for suburb, and for cities not enough roof space, and for industry not enough power density or 24 your supply? LOL

Imaginary power source. I get a kick out of the so called green proponents.

Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

A modern coal fired plant has pulverizers, primary air fans, forced and induced draft fans, SCR's, SO2 scrubbers with limestone pulverizers pumps etc., precipitators, a coal field, stacker/ reclaimer coal handling systems, boiler which can be 200 ft tall, not to mention the 500 foot tall stacks to g...

Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

General Fusion also publishes their research. Both TAE & GF are impressive operations. TAE said, I forgot to state the key point I wanted to really make :P , and that is that they said the science will be demonstrated with Norman in 2019 (that is their target). C2-U was their make or break machi...

Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

Also the fusion plants can power 24 hour life, industry, require power systems. Solar is just fine for rural, daylight rise and shine life.

Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

I would rather think that the problem with developing nations is the support staff expertise and parts. Fossil systems can be quite simple or drop in packages. At some point though the Fusion plants will be boilerplated so to speak. Commercialization is one thing, proof of science is another. Proof ...

Re: EMC2 news

China gets free tech... now there is a man tough to negotiate with. I bet China would do the same deal for his rocket tech too... Maybe Helion could do that deal with their fusion tech?

Re: EMC2 news

Yes, asymmetric tariffs and trade barriers against evil Americans, forced tech transfers are necessary to be liked. Reality sucks.

Re: General Fusion in the news

I can't see what else GF has to share as they basically have all the pieces. What they need is a device large enough to flesh out the engineering details for the commercial machine and prove it. The only thing left is money to do it? No one else that I know of is in that position. On the other hand,...

Re: General Fusion in the news

Thank you Crowberry,
Nice details on the compression plans. Now they need the money to 'go ahead with a 10% Lawson criteria' build. I suppose that once they get that we will hear it, then maybe a project timeline. Looks promising to me.

Re: EMC2 news

Maybe now EMC2 can attract deep pocket investors to expedite their prospects. I may be reading General Fusion wrong, but it seems they are slow in attracting enough cash to build their next 'proof of economic fusion' device, their demo plant. Recent $49 million from the Canadian Gruberment is just a...

NBF has a followup interview, no interview quotes, just 'notes'. https://www.nextbigfuture.com/2018/10/c49-3-million-investment-in-general-fusion-to-2023-nuclear-fusion-demo.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+blogspot%2Fadvancednano+%28nextbigfuture%29 General Fu...

Re: General Fusion in the news

General Fusion will invest at least $150 million in research and development with the potential for over $250 million in additional investment for the construction of a demonstration plant. I can't understand why we go to such great lengths to make short comments, to fit a small box, yet to find in...

Re: Article: Knowledge, Capital, and a Growing Sense of Mission: Fusion Energy Development Enters a New Era

It seems that until Polywell finishes with their simulations there is no larger support. All the other projects have sizable $ support. Even LPP has hardware $. It has been so long since I have heard of where EMC2 is on getting the simulation results needed, I have forgotten. 2019? 2020? 2021? I don...

Re: General Fusion in the news

Maybe the one line claim in their presentation is not meant to be an announcement of their demonstration plant, nevertheless, it serves as an announcement as it is unqualified and a huge claim.

So, yes, maybe in their upcoming presentation they will give some details.

Re: General Fusion in the news

Without a site, building is tough...unless we are loose with the term 'building,' in which case I am building a moon base, just not on the moon and I have only put one 1"x1" piece of wood in place. I would hope that GF is not engaging in loose terms. At a minimum, building should mean a si...
