I thought so too, but the only way to know for sure was to ask. Thanks.

I think there's been discussion of this possibility, and IIRC Nebel himself confirmed that it won't go top secret like that.. edit- I'm pretty sure this isn't the post I was thinking of, but here's a few things Nebel said that hint at how things will happen: http://www.talk-polywell.org/bb/viewtopic...

So all that data, that was going to be in that peer review paper, is lost ? If it is, how much of it will be retraceable from WB7 data?

Like Helius says, it sounds like he's looking ahead at the best path from an eventual successful evaluation. Not that he's committing to the evaluation (this august officialy, or anytime if it happens privately) being successful.

Thanks, I had to ask to be sure.. I thought it was feasible to have the flywheel precisely made so that it'd grind itself evenly to a stop on the casing after collapsing the rolling mechanism. But if it can cause certain damage within 100 yards even inside buildings, it'd take a really dense shieldi...

But if it goes fast enough, and cheap enough, it may become economical once again for ships to compete with planes as a method of transportation. We're deep in speculation here, but wouldn't the same efficiency benefits apply to planes as well, albeit with some time lag in devising solutions accomo...

Feasibility

Isn't the real problem with flywheels for cars, no matter how efficient, that a collision involving a car with one could be catastrophic? If a full-spin wheel comes into contact with anything, the damage could be collossal. No? Isn't that just a matter of isolating the flywheel mechanism from every...

I haven't spent a lot of time reading the forums at arstechnica, but from what I've seen, some of the posters don't have much in the way of social graces. And what seems like a tendency to nit-pick things rather than keep sight of the big picture. The WB7 trials are this august, so there's only a mo...

Every mention of Mills' work I've seen has pegged people's skepticality (to put it politely) levels, so far... This all the way back to the early BLP days. For example, that his theories/math are inconsistent, or don't do what he pretends they do... So this should be interesting, either confirming a...
