Re: WARNING sign

We saw something around here about ten years ago. A sign posted on someone's very high wooden fence. Not too far from the driveway. All text center justified. Line 1: Private Property Line 2: <Drawing of a revolver in profile. Pointing to the right.> Line 3: No Trespassing Line 4: Survivors will be ...

Re: Popular Science Comments Closed Forever

Schneibster, You most probably have not seen any maps I have worked on. But I have used Tiger files in the past. I will look through the other stuff you mention. Maybe a bit (oh yeah!) beyond me, but I will see what I can understand. Have you read "Why People Believe Weird Things," by Michael Sherme...

Re: Popular Science Comments Closed Forever

Schneib-meister, Do you ever work with kids and young folks about AGW? I don't think you can change most people's minds here (including mine, but then again, for a variety of reasons, I think AGW is real, so you probably don't want to change my mind - or the effect it has on how I vote and where I d...

Re: Popular Science Comments Closed Forever

Looked through the Wikipedia article, it sounds credible if the effect actually exists. The underlying principle is much more subtle: suppose you were the only thing that existed in a universe. If you spun, how would you know? OK, so would you feel angular acceleration? Why? How can you tell you're...

Re: Popular Science Comments Closed Forever

My background is geology. Ended up making maps and have now clawed my way to middle management. Subcontracted to oil companies and even the Govt. in the past. Still having fun. Yes, saw some stuff on the amplituhedron. Sounds like it might be significant. But I don't understand how. I read that it m...

Re: Popular Science Comments Closed Forever

Schneibster,

What is your background? Theoretical physics? What do you do for a living? Just curious.

What do you think about James Woodward and this Mach Effect for propulsion that folks have been talking about?

Re: Popular Science Comments Closed Forever

Thanks for the reply. I will check that stuff out.

Good luck.

Pax.

:-)

P.S. You could invite others with similar opinions to this board. You know, just to add some variety here. Sadly, I may have to vacate soon as well.

Re: Popular Science Comments Closed Forever

Schneibster, have you ever visited this site: http://www.skepticalscience.com What do you think of it? What about: http://www.slate.com/blogs/bad_astronomy.html Would you/can you explain to me how more or less believing what the majority of scientists who specialize in the field say, cannot simply b...

Re: Popular Science Comments Closed Forever

I think foxnews had turned off their comments some time back. But now I see comments, at least on some articles. Some of those posts from before the shutdown could be rather...extreme. But an interesting window into the 1% or so of folks who were motivated to post. I think you should still read stuf...

Re: Simon Will LIke This

Just finished the Ken Burns show on Prohibition. Very interesting, and many parallels to stuff today. Although I think some of the parallels were made on purpose.

Re: Recovery.Gov Project Tracker

Wasn't there a page that a had a bunch of Polywell summary links on this site? Links to the Bussard Google talk and all that? I was thinking that maybe having the same for Tri-alpha, and others, would be useful. I haven't found a single place that sums up all the tri-alpha stuff like that old polywe...

Re: Recovery.Gov Project Tracker

I wonder if we shouldn't expand this site to include tri-alpha stuff? And maybe a few others.
Or, is there already a similar site for tr-alpha and general fusion?

Re: Are the Uniforms getting Darker?

There's a reporter named Dale Gavlik who went to the village where the chemical attack took place and interviewed the 'rebels', they said they got the sarin from Bandar and mishandled it themselves. Won't see that report in the main stream media, of whom I'm becoming more and more convinced since L...
