It's gotta be the USS Cole. That's the one they start with. An around the world voyage with maybe Alan Boyle on-board reporting.

Thanks Roger. I made a typo in my original question, I should have said/asked: "I thought Bussard said there was no reason NOT to go right to pB11 fusion." Assuming Nebel and crew get favorable results, it sounds like there are at least two reasons to hold off a bit longer on building the net power ...

The long term plan

So if this pans out, what will be the mid-term and long-term development plan?
I thought Bussard said there was no reason to go right to pB11 fusion. Is that true? Or, is there some reason to go to D-D fusion first? What about another pre-net fusion device before anything else?

Other Groups Working this Issue?

This may already have been covered here, so if you could, please point me to the right thread if true. In case it hasn’t; what other countries, corporations, organizations, etc. are working on the Polywell fusion concept? Are there any? How far along are they? I don’t mean just basic research, but t...

Interesting, but unless it is shown to be powering something, I would be suprised if it gets any attention (outside of us!). :-) Again, I think he needs to power something that everyone can relate to. And, it has to be shown that it is, in fact, providing the power. That's why I like an apartment bu...

It’s too bad he cannot do some sort of straightforward demo all on his own. I mean something like the Wright Brothers first airplanes. It was kind of hard to dispute that once it was seen and photographed. Forget the science (for now), just put something together that powers an apartment building th...

Heh, heh, heh, heh.
Ooooo, I really want this to work. Too bad what I want has so little bearing on reality.

Adding an option

It has just occurred to me (sorry, I’m rather slow) that if this Polywell thing really works as we hope, it would change the whole climate change debate. Ignoring for a moment the controversy, this would add an option that a lot of people would really like. Right now the advertised options are 1. gl...

Thanks MSimon and tonybarry. So what it sounds like you're saying is that a "straightforward" neutron detection may not be necessary to prove this, and that other measures may do just as well. However, the "other methods" may require more explanation. Or, "The answers are going to be kind of nuanced...

A full-up working demo built that is. I realize the WB-7 isn't designed to do net power.

bcglorf,

Yes, that is what I was thinking too. I hope it is enough though, I would like to see a full-up demo of net power.

In just a few short decades! 4 or 5 I'll bet. I notice they call it a spherical tokamak. Do you think polywell would get more funding if it was called that? I wonder how many "few short decades" fusion ideas have explanations similar to this: http://asuwlink.uwyo.edu/~jimkirk/guidance.wav I can see ...

So the jet engines on a 747 would be replaced with ... ? Jets that shoot out hot plasma from the core of a BFR? How would that work?

So Msimon, what you are really saying is:
"Not the local bulk cruisers, mind you, I'm talking about the big, Corellian ships."
