Re: LENR Is Real

I would like to apologise if I have hinted at Thomas Clarke’s having an agenda with his impressive number of comments. I want to assume that Clarke is perfectly honest in the significant work he has laid down on analysing the Lugano report and on commenting what, according to him, is probable or no...

Re: H-B11 inertial fusion: LENR that maybe works :)

I've looked a bit more at this idea. I still think it is very cool. It is the sort of thing that might just work - new tech because we have not had petawatt lasers for very long. But the evidence for two of these steps is a bit dubious: (1) the avalanche effect. It seems that ns lasers (much lower p...

Re: LENR Is Real

Rossi's "independent" tests have been conducted by Levi or Penon. Levi is obviously not independent, and also has shown proven ability to deliver erroneous test data. A 2011 test he reported on had (according to him) a flowrate from a dosimetric pump 40% higher than the specified maximum. ...

Re: H-B11 inertial fusion: LENR that maybe works :)

That is more worrying - but it is not exactly cold! PetaWatt lasers certainly induce fusion, the issue is whether this avalanche effect is real an large enough.

H-B11 inertial fusion: LENR that maybe works :)

So this is of course not LENR, except technically because the energy needed for ignition is only 30kJ. It has G. Miley as co-author on some of the papers which I find worrying, but it is such a very very neat idea, and breaks no normal physics, I'd like to find a serious critique of it. Apologies if...

Re: LENR Is Real

I do not get the impression that he cares what outsiders think of him. Which to me means that he is on a road map that he and hopefully IH determined. He cares sometimes. For example it was important to him that the Ferrara and Lugano tests were positive. He tried to get a patent on the back of Fer...

Re: LENR Is Real

Wait until Feb/Mar 2016 and then we will see who is right. Very well. Here is what will happen then (I'm making a prediction) (1) (likely) Rossi will announce test results (either positive or negative, LOL). (2) (certain) There will be still no evidence that Rossi's devices work. There will be no w...

Re: LENR Is Real

I suppose you think Parkhomov in Russia is not independent. Parkhomov claimed to have positive results on testing something like Rossi's Lugano device. Ironically, the Lugano device did not work even from its own data, so this is not a very good start. Unfortunately the history of Parkhomov's exper...

Re: LENR Is Real

Originally, I found this idea in the Ukrainian literature and was skeptical. So, we verified it by doing a direct numerical solution of the time-dependent Schrodinger Equation for a single nuclear particle in a parabolic energy well . These oscillations in spatial spread will periodically delocaliz...

Re: LENR Is Real

Nothing will convince you short of commercial sales. There have been two independent tests I know about away from Rossi's factory. Both conducted by people who had a strong interest in getting positive results - so not that independent. Other offered independent tests (e.g. NASA who also strongly h...

Re: LENR Is Real

My position on LENR has always been that like everyone I'd like it to be true. But: (1) There is currently no LENR theory that explains the claimed experimental data (2) The claimed experimental data is incoherent and well fits varied experimental error, bad methodology, and very occasional fraud. (...

Re: LENR Is Real

Logically, the fact that Rosi's high-profile LENR devices don't work does not prove LENR is not real. And few here after Ladajo's magnificent trawl through Rossi's self-contradicting statements can have thought they do work. Still, I continue to be fascinated by the very well documented Swede Profes...

Re: 2014 only the hottest year on the cooked books...

Sudden surges of volcanic activity, large meteor impacts, things on that scale, not a bunch of smart monkeys running around burning shit for a hundred years. Planetary activities tend to be measured on cosmic scales which count time in the millions of years. Humans think entirely too much of themse...

http://sci.esa.int/venus-express/34067-venus-vs-earth/ or, more detailed: http://www.skepticalscience.com/Venus-runaway-greenhouse-effect.htm Working out the details of the GHE is really complex, and few people seem to understand the basics. For example, the earth's atmosphere is opaque to IR wavele...
