Re: SpaceX News

That sounds like a pretty direct competitor to Vector Space Systems . Wonder how many players the micro-satellite industry can support? How big can it get without making space junk an unmanageable issue? I thought most new satellites have to be able to go into a garbage orbit at the end of their li...

Re: SpaceX News

It has been frustrating to try to understand progress they are making on fairing recovery compared to the booster recoveries where we got to watch every attempt. I wonder why SpaceX is being so secretive about the fairing recovery attempts? Also, I'm a little surprised the fairing isn't susceptible...

Re: Funding Polywell by an ICO

Ah, the classic blackmail quandary. You pay and all you get is time until the next demand. The threat doesn't go away. Malwarebytes' Anti Malware fixes the virus issue. Cant unlock the encrypted data, though :( Of all the viruses and scams out there, ramsomware has something particularly vicious in...

Re: Funding Polywell by an ICO

I just found out the real reason crypto currency valuations, especially for bitcoin, have been going through the roof lately. Nothing to do with demand out of Japan based on fears of war with N Korea. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-05-12/massive-ransomware-attack-goes-global-huge Payment in bit...

Re: More Helion Energy news....

Explain how the selections were made then. Also, Helion has had its sources of cash before now. Polywell's biggest problem has been the inability to publish, as you well know. Nevertheless, this is all fighting over scraps and crumbs from the big crony table. They applied, they got selected. Helion...

Re: More Helion Energy news....

Well, ARPA-E did a pretty good job and funding alternative fusion concepts, And Polywell got zip. Crony hand outs. Crony handouts?! Do I have to remind you that Polywell got significantly more government money through the Navy over the years? And when some of the others are getting a few small crum...

Re: More Helion Energy news....

Looks like Helion Energy will be presenting their latest works at the Clean Tech Innovation Showcase in Seattle on June 26th. Not sure whether it is important but the Tweet makes it seem like Helion may be one of the more important presenters there. https://twitter.com/wacleantech/status/86061483968...

Re: More Helion Energy news....

Few politicians have any science background, and zero have any ability to grasp plasma science. Even the so called science journalists have no grasp and look for safe reporting opinions from institutional physicists who have safe careers in the bureaucracy of massive projects like ITER that offer f...

I will believe it, when I see it. So far, I have no hope.

Re: More Helion Energy news....

You mean, did he propose to slash half of ARPA-E's funding? Yes, yes he did. IIRC, he proposed to cancel ARPA-E all together. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/03/16/here-are-the-federal-agencies-and-programs-trump-wants-to-eliminate/?utm_term=.d603ffeeb7f9 Others, like the Advanced ...

Re: ARPA-E to begin funding alternative fusion concepts

It sounds really bad that the ARPA-E program is planned to be decommissioned according to this article by Alan Boyle: http://www.geekwire.com/2017/research-trump-budget/ . Yeah, ARPA-E has been a lifeline for domestic fusion projects. Unless there is a new source of funding for fusion, this is just...

Re: More Helion Energy news....

Thanks Skipjack, yes, 8 tweets in 4 1/2 years. I will never use Facebook. How old is the latest Youtube upload? And their website is good as compared to EMC2. Sad, but a reflection of funding. Funny thing is that I can't tell if they are doing anything anymore. Oh yes, Helion is doing things :) I p...

Re: More Helion Energy news....

Helion and MSNW LLC have had Twitter accounts for years as does David Kirtley. They also have a Facebook account and MSNW LLC has a Youtube account: https://www.youtube.com/user/FusionDrivenRocket They have not been very active on social media lately (except for the rare occasional post) ever since ...
