Re: SpaceX News

It seems like all future launches (except probably those reusing previously recovered stages) are going to use an improved Falcon 9 that requires less work with the range. That should help with range related delays.

Re: Lockheed Martin news

5 milliseconds or more may be very significant, or not. For a Polywell operating at a density of 10^22 /M^3 it is impressive. But, I don't know at what density the Tri Alpha current efforts are working at. It is that old triple product consideration. Low Beta Tokamaks may manage 100s of seconds, bu...

This might not sound momentous, but cr...

Re: Lockheed Martin news

I have not seen this posted yet, but might have simply missed it. It is an analysis of the Lockheed Martin reactor concept. I am honestly a bit at a loss: https://github.com/ThePolywellGuy/Posts-On-PDF/blob/master/41%20-%20An%20Intensive%20Analysis%20of%20Lockheed%20Fusion%20Research%20(12-11-2016)....

Re: SpaceX News

The fact that we are still struggling with just going to the ISS, tells me that even a sustainable moon base is still way off. It would be very wise to invest in break through energy/ propulsion technology first, which would have other benefits as well. I wonder whether that's a matter of actual di...

Re: SpaceX News

I think that sustaining a mars colony is unfeasible until the average trip time to mars is less than a month. The fact that we are still struggling with just going to the ISS, tells me that even a sustainable moon base is still way off. It would be very wise to invest in break through energy/ propul...

Re: Z-Pinch Renaissance

More indication that Shear Flow Stabilization of Z- Pinches works.
If Shumlaks Z- pinch design works as hoped, it would make for an incredibly compact fusion reactor.

Re: SpaceX News

My understanding is that SpaceX is that kind of thing. Musk wants to personally go to Mars, and SpaceX is his way of doing it himself. Oh, and to make some money helping other folks get into orbit/space while he's doing it. ;) No, Musk actually wants to colonize mars because he thinks making mankin...

Re: SpaceX News

Yes, more or less. Still the spirit feels a bit different hey. Anyway, give the whole flight is going to be automated the tourists are more like paying life support and communication tech testers who happen to get a free trip around the moon. That isn't a bad deal on the SpaceX side :) Flights with...

This is all over the place but on the off chance you missed it, SpaceX's moon tourism plan: http://www.spacex.com/news/2017/02/27/spacex-send-privately-crewed-dragon-spacecraft-beyond-moon-next-year Which seems faintly nuts and wildly optimistic given that both Dragon 2 and Falcon Heavy currently h...

They are intentionally staying below the radar by choice. Nothing nefarious, just choosing to keep a low profile.

Glad to hear that! Thanks for the info! Hope that they will get funding for the big builds soon!
