They have a new paper online. It will go behind a paywall within a month, so get it now, if you are interested:

Re: EMC2 news

Of course simulations need to be confirmed by experiment, especially in a field like this. But looking into the future, they could be used to rapidly test millions of combinations before going into actual experimental verification, which could vastly accelerate nuclear fusion (and other) research.

NASA wanted to go all commercial years ago, congress wanted the SLS. Congress always gets what it wants.

Re: EMC2 news

It is something I have been thinking about (also in context of the Google- Tri Alpha- cooperation). At some point simulations and AI will become so good, that it will affect how we develop fusion reactors. At least we will be able to test ideas without having to build prototypes anymore. But I think...

Re: Tokamak Energy news

So Tokamak Energy is planning for break even by 2020. Still a while out, but AFAIK it is the closest date for Q>1 of any competitor that has been published recently.

New Fuel Mix for higher Plasma Temperatures

The MIT has found a new way to boost plasma temperatures by adding trace amounts of Helium3 (<1%) to a more traditional fuel mix like Deuterium and Tritium.

Re: Placing humans at center of computer optimization yields hot plasmas

I have been wondering for a while about when AI and computers will overtake humans as the main drivers in innovation in fusion and other fields.

Re: Graphene battery announced

I would not hold my breath too much. So far they failed to disclose any meaningful information regarding the characteristics and capacity of their production, except for the usual fancy commercial graphs. Additionally the pictures they posted now are of quite "low tech" machinery and equi...

Re: Graphene battery announced

Sorry for the necrothreading, but Grabat just posted this image (and several others similar to this) on their Facebook page. No more information was given and we don't know actual performance values of this "production"(?) model of their battery. Nevertheless, after a year of delays that m...

Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

Tri Alpha no longer has any tweets on their Twitter account. This was just after giving information out via an article on the target plasma temperature for their new reactor named 'Norman'. I have no idea what happened. Perhaps investors wanted greater secrecy. They had longer stretches without twe...

Helion is keeping quiet. As I said, they purposely want to avoid too much publicity at this point in time.
