I guess what I'm wondering is, given the unique conditions in the BFR acting kinda like a particle accelerator (and pretending for a moment that the positrons dont simply annihilate with the circulating electrons): The nuclear forces are kinda funny. With the nuclei at close distances, the strong fo...
I was reading up on muons a couple of weeks ago while reading about the Strong force, as I understand it the only player involved in the Strong Force between particles is muon exchange. Does the muon exchange involve the muons flowing back and forth within and between/among particles much like elect...

This argument reminds me of a well-known prayer, posted at 12steps.org: GOD, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference. .... I have seen one similiar on another forum GOD, grant me the serenity to accept the...

I don't think any will be entering the wiffleball. They pop into play from the p+B11 reaction inside, make their way out via intertia, charge up the collection grid and then become free floating particles to be extracted. Not only that but I don't THINK they would have the energy left over to squeez...

The thing to keep in mind is the alphas have WAY more energy than the fuel ions. Alphas come out in MeVs, the well will be tens of KeV. I was surprised, as I think a lot of people were, when Nebel told us the B fields at reactor strengths could corral alphas. I had assumed they would just fly right...

With regard to fundamental particles, what ever happened with the Higgs Boson hysteria we had last year? Speaking of which, doesn't it seem like kind of a chicken and egg scenario with regards to the Higgs particle. The premise is, they are trying to smash protons together to find in the debris a pa...

Heh, I think that sorta sailed way over my head there David :D I guess my question was more speculation meant to understand the nature of matter, and not so much how to get the positrons into the IEC environment and just assuming it could be done (for instance pulsing the laser at a gold film which ...

What do you mean by: created by the laser/gold From the article in the linked thread “We’ve detected far more anti-matter than anyone else has ever measured in a laser experiment,” said Hui Chen, a Livermore researcher who led the experiment. “We’ve demonstrated the creation of a significant number...

Positrons in a BFR
Howdy. I'm kind of a layman here so forgive me if this sounds idiotic  I was reading this thread today http://www.talk-polywell.org/bb/viewtopic.php?t=900&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=positron and it got me thinking: How would the positrons behave if they were immediately introdu...

I'm trying to get a job in my city to keep unicorns from stampeding down main street and trampling a bunch of innocent bystanders. I have a secret formula for magic dust guaranteed to work. No one has ever seen a unicorn in my house. I think I know the perfect place for you go to work on that idea....

I like the idea of a 24 fold advantage gained by the alphas coming out the cusp, but the actual number would depend on how focused these beams actually are (from the narrow cusp exits, and any focusing from the direct energy converting grids and deflectors). They may be less or more focused. Also k...

The electrons used to then neutralize the alphas come from ground at the cost of only a relatively few eV. once the alphas are neutralized back to plain old helium, is there a planned mechanism for extracting them from the vaccuum chamber, or is one of the engineering hurdles that still needs to be...
