Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

I once asked the CEO of General Fusion if he was angry at all the waste of funding and effort associated with ITER. He laughed and said: "In terms of the 3 trillion dollar global energy market ITER is an insignificant rounding error." That should either fill us with hope for the amount of resources ...

Re: LENR Is Real

Dancin fool's analysis assumes that only one proton will add to the Nickel at a time. Iwamura's extensive work at Mitsubishi (leading reference http://lenr-canr.org/acrobat/IwamuraYobservatiob.pdf) shows that this is not the case for deuterium. The complexity of the solid state makes simple assumpti...

Re: LENR Is Real

So "(W * h) / h" could be better stated as "(Joules per second * h) / h". Yeah the 'h' part cancels but the time element in Joules per second is not removed by that cancellation. This interminable and pointless thread really suffers from a poor command of basic understanding on both sides. It is te...

Re: H-B11 inertial fusion: LENR that maybe works :)

That is more worrying - but it is not exactly cold! PetaWatt lasers certainly induce fusion, the issue is whether this avalanche effect is real an large enough. This is all well and good. The technical challenges of this design are pretty significant. The alignment, laser efficiency, and contaminat...

The first author is also a cold fusion guy.

Re: Event: Nuclear Fusion: Has Its Time Finally Arrived?

Is not advancements made by ITER directly but from ITER founded projects. And mind you, I am not a supporter of ITER at all, but investments in researches coming from ITER founds indeed advanced many technical fields, especially materials and superconductors. I still think that direct research inve...

Sorry I can't find any references to innovations made by the iter project in these areas.

Specifically what innovations are you talking about?

Re: Event: Nuclear Fusion: Has Its Time Finally Arrived?

I would also agree that on a innovation per dollar basis, ITER has not been efficient. That said, I am open to discussing if LENR is seen to have a better innovation per dollar ratio. My sense is not, given how little if anything has yet come out of LENR. I must have missed the Rossiclown bashing, ...

Re: Event: Nuclear Fusion: Has Its Time Finally Arrived?

but I think the ITER project still has produced more tangible results than all that LENR stuff. This project is on track to flush 10s of billions of public dollars down the toilet. LENR doesn't even come close. Dear all: Please please please stop posting Rossi rants outside of the appropriate threa...

Re: Graphene battery announced

Don't know if this battery design has been covered here yet. https://wattsupwiththat.com/2016/04/08/this-new-battery-is-a-game-changer/ Energy density is one thing. The number of charging cycles the cathode can sustain is equally, if not more, important. The use of organic cathodes in an electroche...

Re: LENR Is Real

Considering Defkalion got their "tech" from Rossiclown, it would seem to be a case of pot meets kettle. Wasn't there a Fabio Penon that did "validation" for Rossiclown back in the day? Like 2011 or so??? The name now seems really familiar as I think about it. Anyone? Ya that guy is pretty sketchy. ...

Re: LENR Is Real

On another note, Steven Krivit posted an interesting write up Luca Gamberale on his take on Rossi/Defkalion http://newenergytimes.com/v2/sr/RossiECat/docs/20160226Gamberale-Final-Report.pdf The amateur Defkalion fraud is not relevant to the current situation. That poorly conceived scam was easily e...

Re: ITER Chronicle of a probable failure

The fact that ITER can never work has been clear for a very long time. What is really at issue is what reasoning is behind its funding. It is certainly not because Reagan and Gorbachev decided it was a good idea. Smart people don't make multi billion dollar mistakes. It must be due to some deep and ...
