Good stuff from Australia!
While an interesting distraction, I prefer defkalion's approach.

Not long now. Either this is legit or it all comes tumbling down.

To summarize the discussion: You link me an experiment you consider "well done" that tried to replicate an effect observed on tungsten cathodes that did't even use a tungsten cathode and looks like it was conducted in about a week by amateurs. It is better conducted than the original Let us be perf...

I don't find excess heat to be a the best evidence for cold fusion. Transmutation is much more compelling. Here is a paper where the transmutation of various metals is observed in situ in an XPS instrument. http://lenr-canr.org/acrobat/IwamuraYobservatiob.pdf I consider it a "well done" experiment....

As long as you calibrate the calorimeter, and the input power is known by the independent experimenters using their own instruments and power supply, then there is nothing you can do inside the control reactor to prevent an accurate comparison. If I know what temperature the outside surface of the ...

This type of calorimetry must be conducted using controls. Prior to the experiment the calorimeter must be calibrated with a known input power, there is no oportunity to "do something" to the other reactor core if standard practices are used. The most basic of the "mutually agreed upon" experimenta...

How could the internal thermal characteristics of the reactors make a difference to the measurements if control experiments determine the external temperature vs input power dependence? Because they could do something so the "control unit" looks much worse in the readings than an "empty reactor" wo...

I know. But they say they will be swapping powder etc, so we do not know whether the thermal characteristics between the thermocouples will be affected. And we suspect that the powder switching will not be open to inspection. If the entire outer reactor, including thermocouples, is open to inspecti...

An advantage of Defkalion's test is that they remove much of the volume of apparatus that had skeptics claiming there was a hidden pool of molten salt (or whatever) supplying heat over the course of the experiment. If they get COP > 20 for 48 + 48 hours without a change of fuel, it should be easy e...

I wonder what "well done" experiments he is talking about. I have never seen such a report. Perhaps you can link one. http://www.earthtech.org/experiments/Inc-W/Mizuno.html This argument boils down to arguing that the CF experimenters have no idea how to do calorimetry. A much more authoritative fi...

...recognized world authority in calorimetry, robert duncan,... I am afraid that Dr. Duncan will not like the rank you raised him. As only medium school skill is enough for calorimetry. "The world authority in calorimetry" sounds pejoratively for any member American Physical Society. His conclusion...

This argument boils down to arguing that the CF experimenters have no idea how to do calorimetry. As I understand here is thread on Rossi's approach. Somewhere in quoted here link I saw the table summarizing all CF approaches. And in all others the excess heat is estimated as several percents of in...

Every well done experiment has been negative, the only “positive” experiments have been poorly done and poorly instrumented. To me, that suggests a pattern that is consistent with the positive experiments being due to error and artifact. Posted by: daedalus2u | December 8, 2011 4:19 PM I wonder wha...

More likely Rossi has found that he has to allocate his time and limited resources to making domestic E-Cats in large quantities. You really believe that? Come on, man! Even you have to admit that Rossi has been contradicting himself in regards to the UoB so many times now, there is no room for exc...
